Joyce-
I was sitting down having a cup of coffee and decided to peruse Simon's spreadsheets that you left for me when he came in on Wed. last. I have to tell you that I am duly impressed with all that you have accomplished these last several months without any guidance from me. I do not see a lot of cats with feline diabetes and frankly I do not have as much experience as I would like with this.

I knew you were home-testing as your husband told Janis when he came in to pick up the insulin but I had no idea that you were doing so much work with this spreadsheet and watching for spikes and drops and dosing accordingly. I am so impressed!

You mentioned the feline diabetes message board as a place you got information and help with this and I wanted to ask you for the link so I can make sure any newly diagnosed patients have access to this because what you did is so truly amazing. I am really very happy that Simon is doing so very well. Please keep up the great work and Happy Holidays to you and yours.

Sincerely,
Dr. K

Sue, it is YOU who is largely responsible for Simon's outcome. I can't thank you enough. I mean that!

My vet blew my mind with both his in person praise and this e-mail. He was very sincere too. He was grinning from ear to ear when he came into the exam room as he had already seen the spreadsheet but apparently he really decided to sit down and read it in more depth since last Wed. I am glad that he now believes in home testing as initially, he just told me to shoot 2U and bring him back in a week. Then he upped it to 3U when he saw his first week's numbers. As you know, I did NOT listen to him, save for the one time I gave it to him in the office since they had me bring him in pre shot.

After that, I LOWERED it back down and am glad that I did. For months I was frustrated that Simon was not showing progress but then when it happened, I was so very happy (and still am) because I thought the window was much narrower (like 3 months) than it turned out to be. After 8 long months, he is finally on his way.

Thank you so much! All of the people on these boards are amazing and if I ever win the lottery, I will be sure that this board is taken care of! For now, buying two calendars and clicking on the links when purchasing strips and supplies is the best I can do for them but if I win...LOL

AWESOME !!!!!

Hope your vet passes his experience with you and Simon on to his other vet friends. Diagnose & send them to FDMB.....OH YEAH !!! :-D :-D
