My name is Sandra, today my 9 1/2 year old male cat Frankie was diagnosed with Diabetes. I'm still in shock after learning this, but want to educate myself as much as possible in order to give him a good quality of life as well as learn what to expect as we go through this. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Have you read the Health links/FAQ yet for beginners? I learned a lot from the stickies. Is Frankie on insulin or are you transitioning into that yet? What type of food is he eating. A wet low carb food or raw diet works best for cats with diabetes. There are stickies for each insulin and there are many folks to help you along the way.

I'll let those with more knowledge advise you, but you can't go wrong reading the sticky messages as Lisa mentioned. And most importantly, just breath and keep as calm as you can. I was at a pretty high frustration and stress level before posting my introduction and asking questions on the forum. And that was only about a week ago.

Like a dating site in reverse. I'm "old", my wardrobe consists of sweat pants and I drive an old car. The only thing that matters here are our cats and a thick skin. Cannot think of another site where honesty and "stupid" questions really don't matter.
