These few days dumdum's numbers go lower and up like before. In order to make his numbers change not so huge, the vet suggest to shot 1u for few days to see how it will be.
Tonight when I came home I feel that he is not so eager to eat, so I get his urine to do the test, and the ketones is +. He finished his dinner, but after 3 hours I gave him small meal as usual, he doesn't want it.
I call the vet and they tell me to record his numbers every hour, then tell them how it is tomorrow.
So far his signs is not want to eat (but just begin, not over 12 hours), no dehydration. I'm not sure is there anything else I can do for him now. Is there anything I can do?

How high are the ketone levels. Trace levels can be managed at home. More than trace levels need to be managed by the vet. If you are seeing large amounts of ketones, this is an emergency.

Ketones typically appear because your cat isn't getting enough insulin, there's an infection present, and the cat isn't eating enough.

I would get a ketone test whenever you can. Add water to Dumdum's food. Fluids help to flush the ketones. If Dumdum isn't eating, you're going to need to do what you can to get calories into your cat.

I do think you should plan to see your vet. I'm concerned that there's some sort of infection present.

Thank you Sienne, his ketone level is 1+, the smallest one.
I will take him to vet at tomorrow morning, and I give him some baby food to make he get enough calories.
But because he doesn't want canned food, and doesn't want baby food with water now, I don't know how to give him more water.
I have Ringer's Solution for my other cat, should I give him some?

Oh man. I hope you can get those ketones flushed out of there.
Can you syringe some baby food with water or blended cat food with water?
Both water and food are important.

I don't know about the fluids, but I think you should ask your vet about them.

Thank you Dyana, but dumdum really hate to be hold, so it's nearly impossible to syringe him food, last time he got DKA, even when he was so weak, he won't let the vet syringe him food.
In the end I only can apply baby food on his nose and wait him eat them again and again.
I just try to syringe him some water, but he can't bear it even only 3cc......
I want ask the vet about the fluids too, but it's too late in our country, it's 00:25 am now, so I can't ask the vet.

What if you kind of laid over him? Like if he was on the floor and you sat with your legs together to prevent rear escape, and then leaned over him with your elbows touching the ground on both side to prevent side escape, and then held your face down there and used your hands to prevent front escape. I know it sounds pretty risky if he scratches.

Do you have tuna water without soy in it? He might love some of that.

I tried but still can't get water into his mouth.
He had some water with his dinner, so I think I keep eye on his skin. Keep trying to make him drink water looks like really make him feel uncomfortable.
I just test his urine at +5, and the level still at 1+.
Have to wait 7 hours that can take him to the vet, a long long night...

I'm not sure if this will work, but I hold Bob like a baby and use the syringe in the corner of his mouth. He hates it and fights me, but sometimes you have to do that (if you can). I have one cat that would not tolerate being held. I had to put medicine in her eye one time and had to wrap her up in a blanket like a burrito. It wasn't pretty, but it worked!

Good luck! I know waiting like that is torturous!

Sending good vet visit vines to Dumdum and you. Maybe the vet can show you how to syringe feed Dumdum, and he will give you some good syringes to use.

There is a cat food called IAMS Maximum Calorie that is very high in calories and low in carborhydrates that is easily blended into milk shake consistancy. Maybe your vet can recommend something like that for you to try. Best Of Luck.
I hope you get some sleep for yourself, tonight.

After he waked up this morning, he starts to drink lot water by himself, but sill doesn't want to eat and go back to sleep.
Later I'll try to give him some food and shot as before, then take him to the vet.

Thanks to all of you!! :YMHUG:
The great news is Dumdum's urine test has no ketones this afternoon.
After i brought him to the vet, she did a lot tests and made sure he didn't start DKA, but ketones shows 2+ at that time.
The way to stop and clean the ketones is to lower his numbers immediately, so he stayed at there and started using short-term insulin every few hours to keep his numbers under 250 all the time.
We did the same thing at night at home.
Finally he's able to eat by his own today's dinner!
Now we're still using short term insulin at home and monitor his numbers every hour, the first priority now is keeping his numbers at normal range for few days, then will discuss next step.
So, I think he's safe now. :-D

What insulin are your using -- Humulin R (or Novolin R)? If so, Dyana is experienced with it's use. You should get some basic info from Dyana since the short acting insulin, if not used carefully, can be dangerous.

I'm glad the vet helped you to get rid of Dumdum's ketones, and that he is eating his dinner.

You will need to keep testing for ketones as much as you can for awhile.

Good Job!

I am at work right now, so my time is minimal. All I can think of right now, is to not shoot the short acting insulin if he's is coming down on his own. Wait until he is rising, and shoot as little as possible to get him to come down about 50 to 100 points. I only give J.D. zero line of R which is about 2 drops, and a lot of times I give him even less than that.

I'll check back in with you tonight, when I get home.
