Hello all,

Last September my girl Monkey was diagnosed with diabetes. I was devastated. I have two cats and so overwhelmed. Having to give her two shots a day of insulin and try to feed her the DM wet food was very challenging. She finally started eating the wet food ( i had to give the same to my other one) and with being diligent , WE beat the diabetes. YEAH!
I have one question . Is there a dry food I could add if I am going to be away for the day /weekend or more that a few hours? I find Monkey is hungrier from having switched to the wet food Purina DM and wants to eat every 3 -4 hours.

Also I am asking if there are other choices in wet food with low carb/ high protein that is less expensive.
I have two cats and its running me double the amount of money now each month.
Any suggestions are welcome! Thank you!

Hi. I have a link to the cat food database in my signature. You can filter by the desired parameters to get a list of foods to try. I feed Weruva Chicken Frick A Zee, but I doubt it is cheaper than what you have now. A lot of people feed Fancy Feast, Sheba or Friskies when looking for less expensive options.

As you probably already know, it is best not to introduce dry food. You could use an auto-feeder to feed wet food when you are away. Some people freeze portions of food and leave it out for their cat to eat when it thaws. If you feel you must introduce dry food, I would recommend Dr Elsey's Clean Protein Chicken. It is between 4 and 5% carbs. (Young Again Zero has only trace carbs but has been known to cause poop issues.)
