We have 2 civil cats that are proving very difficult to transition to wet food. We've tried warming it, adding water and tuna juice but they just look at it and meow for their iams dry food. We want them on wet because of our DC. We thought that we would try to get them on to a dry food that has less carbohydrates than the jams. We tried the Wellness Core dry mixed with the iams but the just picked it out and placed it on the floor beside their bowl and ate the iams. Is anyone familiar with NATURES RECIPE DOR FELINE GREENIES? Any suggestions on any other low carb dry would be appreciated. We have Blinkies list for dry food but was wondering if there might be some not on the list. Also are ANY freezes dried greets ok as long as they only have one product in them ie. Chicken Breast Free Dried Treats?

You have my sympathies. When we transitioned our kitties to wet, both our cats were in HEAVEN..To them is was like getting treats twice a day. I feel for everyone that has this problem. We were able to go cold turkey straight to wet. The only thing I can think of is to mix the wet (just a tiny bit of wet ) for a day or three, then a tiny bit more each meal till hopefully it's at least half and half? Good luck

Good wishes,
jeanne

jt and trouble. Thank you for that idea. I never thought of mixing the dry and wet together. I'll give that a try. Keep your fingers and paws crossed. The worst of the two civies is the Norwegian Forest Cat. She won't even switch her treats to the Freezed Dried Chicken Breast. PurrFace, our DC, and Heidi, the Russian Blue, took to the Freezed Dried Treats very well.

How about freeze dried raw food? Stella and Chewy's makes a 100% complete freeze dred raw food. It's healthier than any dry food, IMO. It really should be rehdyrated before serving but you could feed it dry while you slowly try to transition the cats to eating it moist and/or canned food.

Have you seen the tips on how to transition a dry food addict to canned food? http://catinfo.org/docs/Tips for Transitioning PDF 1-14-11.pdf

Any freeze dried meat treat is fine  These are usually just one ingredient: meat or fish.
