First off, let me mention that my diabetic cat does get wet food as her primary food (she gets fancy feast classics). The problem is, regardless of the brand of wet food/type, etc, she will get the loose stool that looks like a cowpie/chocolate pudding. She will be solid after a few days of adding a little bit of dry food to her diet. I have 8 other cats. They get blue wilderness/buffalo grain free duck recipe (dry) in the mornings and wet food in the evening (the ones that will eat wet food anyway lol). I made the switch to grain free since my oldest cat has allergies and decided that I might as well switch all of them since its healthier in general. This particular blue wilderness recipe is high protein and low carb, however, I'm not sure of the actual carb percentage (ie what does the company determined to be low carbs) and I looked on this website and the info provided (catinfo) and there does not seem to be a definite answer either. Right now, my diabetic cat is separated from the other cats since we are still in the progress of regulating her since her diagnosis is recent. Does anyone know if what I am feeding my other cats is okay for my diabetic cat, when I need to feed her a little dry food?

So far, I must be doing something right as she no longer has ketones and I would very much like to keep it that way.

Did you make the food change slowly? Digestive upsets frequently occur with sudden food changes and will settle down over time.

Have you tried using FortiFlora?

There are very few low carb dry foods: Wellness Core, Evo Cat and Kitten, and 2 others whose names I don't recall. Generally, dry food is not recommended as cats will not drink enough water to compensate. See Cat Info for more information on why to feed a canned or raw, low carb diet.

I really don't have much experience with dry. I feed my crew wet. Every once in a while two of them get some kibble. Innova has a dry food that claims to have a low glycemic index. I think it's called Innova prime. I bought it but put it into a different container so I'm not sure about the name. You never know what to believe with advertisements. It may be worth a look. I haven't done any research on it. Maybe someone here has used it.
