Dropped and cracked my lev vial!

HELP! I know this is gonna sound crazy but hubby just dropped our levemir vial and a piece chipped off the bottom. There is a hole in the bottom. I just bought this bottle less than a month ago!!! We picked up the broken piece off the floor so it's not in the vial. My question is if I store the bottle upside down so nothing spills out is it safe? I can't afford another bottle. Not to mention my vet won't write another script till he sees my cat I'm located in bklyn ny if anyone can help out with me buying a pen off them. Thank you.
 
I am so sorry that has happened to you! Is the piece missing all the way through the bottle. If not, it might be okay....I am not really sure. If it is all the way through and Lantus can seep out on the bottle, I tend to think that it will alter the efficacy of the Lantus. If the latter is the case, please go to the Supply Closet and see if there is any Lantus for sale. Alan Hamman sales Lantus very cheaply; I have bought 5 pens off of him. You can use your syringe to draw up your dose. He is located in TX, not sure where you are. Below is the link, but check out all post on Supply Closet as some peeps are giving Lantus free.
