? Drop of blood after injection

Hi all,

I just gave Angel her PM shot and noticed a small spot of blood bead up immediately after the injection. Is that normal? It's never happened to her before AFAIK.

I wouldn’t worry about it. It can happen if you accidentally hit a capillary.

Hi, reviving this because of related weirdness.

These drops of blood have occasionally happened ever since this first post -never with caninsulin or prozinc, so I wonder if it's a lantus issue?- but I'd guess less than 5 times total. I just grab a tissue and keep pressure on it for about a minute or so.

But yesterday it happened again. And today, she has a pretty decent sized bruise in that same spot. It's red and angry looking, a bit bigger in size than a bottle cap, and she seems bothered when I touch it.

Does this warrant a call to the vet today or is this normal too? Maybe I should get her clotting factors checked?
