Hello, Squeaks had a vet appt today where they tested his BG. (I did send her my spreadsheet and now she said I can just send that to her each month vs. taking Squeaks in-so YAY!) She wants me to do .5U for AM shot and .75U for PM shot to see if that helps regulate him. I thought in reading through the forum that you should try for equal doses each day. Can I get some thoughts on this? What are other takes on his spreadsheet? Looking at his numbers, I think he is due for an increase to .75U, but it just seems odd to me to break up the dose like that. TYIA for any guidance you can provide!
Squeaks could use a touch more insulin, and it is better to try and give the same dose in both AM and PM cycles. Otherwise, it's difficult to tell if the dose in one cycle being different from the dose in the other cycle is making a difference or not in the BG levels overall. Another option would be to do what we call a "fat" dose, which would be just a bit above the 1/2 unit marking on the insulin barrel. But I don't think a "fat" dose would do enough to bring Squeaks BG numbers down into the green range at mid-cycle. He's still in those higher >150 blue numbers most of the time at mid-cycle. You need to see some greens.
Thanks for looking at this! That makes a lot of sense. I will do the .75U in both AM & PM shots in hopes that we start seeing some greens!
