George is supposed to be on 3 units of Lantus twice a day but I was told that was too much. I just tested him and hes 358mg/dL. How much should I give him?
Ill give him 1 unit just to be safe. Im doing SLGS since hes newly diagnosed. Ill fix my spread sheet in just a momentIf he doesn't have a history of ketones, I would drop the dose down to 1 unit twice a day to be safe and stick with that dose for a week. If you're home all day today, you could give 3 units and monitor levels closely just in case. Whatever you feel comfortable doing.
Are you following TR or SLGS? Might be better to do SLGS for now.

Can you fix your SS? The two 107 numbers are from yesterday's PM cycle so need to be in the row above and in the section after PMPS.

How do I add a signature? Just my name at the end? Please also add a signature. When following SLGS you start with 1 unit if feeding any dry or high carb food. If on all low carb wet or raw you start with .5. The depot will take 5-7 days to fill.
Did I do it correctly? The directions are here.

The reason for the signature is so we know what you are feeding so we don’t keep asking you as that determines dosing advice. Good you have a signature.
the spreadsheet is great, you need to insert in the cells the daily BG, is the way we can give you dosing advice by seeing how the insulin works through the day, also if you scroll the SS to the left there's a space for REMARKS there you can type any changes, what you feed, when you increased or decrease dose, we also read these notes, (see Corky's SS) to get an ideaDid I do it correctly?
Perfect! Did he have ketones at diagnosis? If yes I would add that. Is the Kirkland food dry?Did I do it correctly?
all these questions are answered on his first thread attached at the top of this threadPerfect! Did he have ketones at diagnosis? If yes I would add that. Is the Kirkland food dry?
Yes but it’s good to answer no on the ss where it asks if there’s a history of ketones. I did not see that.all these questions are answered on his first thread attached at the top of this thread
Got it! Ill test him before his shot and then give him only 1 unit againgood, he's coming down, let us know 1 hour before next shot his BG, so in case you need us we can assist you till shot time, it would be good not to miss next shot if possible, we want to get him regulated to lower numbers![]()
