Dosing Question: High & flat Lantus + question about glucose toxicity?

Little One has been on Lantus since 12/7 when he was diagnosed. First at 1unit a day for about 1.5 weeks, then 2 units for about 2.5 weeks, and now 3 units for just under a week. Finally started at-home testing with the last increase. I've been super busy with work and unable to do more testing over the past few days, but it seems to be doing roughly the same each day.

It looks to me like he needs an increase; I'm also wary of his numbers being so high and causing damage/toxicity, etc. Recommendations? Vet wants me to do a full curve tomorrow or later so we can see what the insulin is doing after a week. Thinking I'll call her tomorrow or Wed to share new data and ask about an increase.

Can you tell me a little bit about Little One first. How was he diagnosed? Any other health issues? What is he eating now?

I agree that it could look like he needs an increase, but you have increased by larger amounts than we normally do so getting good data at this dose will give us an idea where to go next.

Before anyone can advise you, you need to set up a SS (Spread Sheet) If you need help someone can assist with it if you ask. Also put a ? mark first when you post.
I see it says Spreadsheet but I couldn't access it.

Does your kitty eat any dry food, kibble? It can raise the Blood Glucose.

I also noticed your cat has stomatitis, I just read some interesting info about using Zyrtec for Stomatitis
("Lately, it’s been determined that a significant percentage of cats affected by these eosinophilic diseases respond well to Zyrtec. Complete remission of symptoms is actually possible for some once this drug is initiated. So far, this seems to be true for all eosinophilic cases, save those of the respiratory variety (Who knows why?).

Best of Luck with you Kitty :)

Thanks!

So my spreadsheet is the link following with the tinyurl; others have been able to access it!

Little one was just acting a bit off, and seemed uncomfortable. He was flooding the litter box, which is how I could tell. I think I caught it pretty early.

His BG was initially at 500ish when he started on 1 unit and it really hasn’t improved over the past few weeks as we upped his insulin. His baseline is mid 400s to 500ish (AMPS vs PMPS). His lowest I’ve seen since starting testing has been nighttime nadir (350ish).

I’ll check w my vet about Zyrtec for him too!
