Lenny was hospitalized Dec 1-5 with pancreatitis and DKA. He is taking prednisilone since then and I’m having higher values which they said would happen. I‘ve increased his insulin - his spreadsheet is up to date but I dont know how to attach it.
He’s on prozinc and the bottle is 2 months old. I ordered a new bottle in case his isn’t good anymore.
Should i increase his dose even more?
Thanks,
Nancy

Your spreadsheet is a link in your signature: Lenny’s Spreadsheet
How often are you giving the prednisolone? If not twice daily that may affect the bG differently AM and PM.
In Lenny's spreadsheet annotate in the remarks when you started the prednisolone. And again when you stop it.

He was getting 7.5 mg once a day in the morning at 8:00 am and on Thursday his dose was reduced to 5 mg once a day for four months. I’ll make a note in the spreadsheet

I'm tagging @FrostD who is a Prozinc user and can lend a hand.

My inclination is to hold the dose for another day and then increase. I would suggest getting Ketostix so you can test for ketones given how much higher your kitty's numbers are. You don't want to see ketones if you're already dealing with pancreatitis.

I suspect he's bouncing from something lower last night. Any way you can get something closer to +5 tonight? Just want to spot check before saying increase.

With DKA in the recent past, I would be testing for ketones several times a week. Can you put the result into the remarks column of the SS please.
How is his appetite? it’s important that post DKA kitties eat well and often. Pancreatitis can cause inappetance as well.
Would you mind putting DKA Dec 2022 into his signature please so that we are aware. Thanks

His appetite has been great after being released from the hospital. He had bloodwork this week and his pancreatitis has cleared up. I have the ketone urine strips and test him every time I catch him in the litter box.
