We dose at 6 am and 6 pm. At 5 pm he was at 100. Just tested at 6 pm and he was at 85. Now, I guess this means he just cleared a bounce?? But what do I do now? The latest I can does tomorrow is 7 because of work. Advice?

Skip tonight's dose. He will probably be higher tomorrow morning. You do not want to risk hypoglycemia by giving him insulin tonight.

First, let me correct myself. He didn't clear a bounce. Second, I can test at 7 pm to see what it is. I don't get why it's so low at 6 pm!!

I just tested. He's staying at 80. Are there any particular tests that I should make sure I get tonight. I wish I have been able to get some tests this afternoon!!

Well, you were able to get that important PMPS test! It's possible that his pancreas is "sputtering" a bit. No shot this evening but maybe get a before bed test to see how he's doing. He's given you a green PS a couple of times so it might just be a pattern he has, although there are more greens recently on the SS which points to an improved insulin response once you moved to the 2u - 2.25 u range.

I'm do scared he's going to be super high. I broke up his food tonight.

USUALLY I give him the rest of the can at once, then add water and refresh it every so often. He picks at it, but occasionally he can eat a lot of it right off.

Tonight I split that up. I plan on giving him the rest of the rest of the can in a few hours. He's hasn't even finished the portion that he had.

My thought process is that little amounts is easier for his body to maintain rather than larger amounts.

Technically, couldn't I give him insulin still as long as I can maintain the schedule? Or maybe not because where he ate I would not have an accurate reading.

Feeding small amounts in several meals works better for many kitties.

ProZinc doesn't onset quickly so you can get away with only a small meals at shot time and he can eat more in small amounts in the first couple of hours after the shot.

It looks like Tuffy was clearing his bounce from his AM 307BG but it is my understanding bounce breaking happens late in the cycle when the insulin duration wanes and BG is high- pink, red, or black level.
It is possible last night's PM +11 was higher than this morning's preshot and he was breaking a bounce this morning but without a PM +11 no one can know for certain.

Kris this is a carry over from a PM conversation with Mphair84.
I didn't want you to think I had lost my mind and jumped on the prozinc forum thread out of nowhere for no apparent reason, lol. ;):D

I'm heading to bed. I got my +4 and I'm hoping tomorrow he's not super high.

I think I should figure out something so I can get the +10 or +11 at night.

IF your schedule is flexible enough, I think you could have shot when you saw him go up to 135 at +2 (as long as you could test a couple of times after)…..Usually, once they start going up, they zoom up and as you can see, he bounced again off the green today so once that bounce starts going, not having any insulin will usually leave him to bounce even higher.

Don't worry though....it's all a learning process.....you're gathering great data so the next time (and there will be a next time) you'll be better prepared!!

, he only went up because I fed him and I didn't want to use the BG reading because he just ate. Should I have given him insulin at 135 and monitored him?
