Hi. Silver is out of remission and I think I need to start him on insulin again. When he was first diagnosed, vet put him at 2u bid and after discovering this forum, know that was too high. And she kept telling me to increase! This forum saved Silver's life. I don't want to talk to vet about this again. I learned a lot here and believe I can treat him with your help.

Could someone look at his spreadsheet and see how he's responded in the past and tell me where to start?

I'm out the house 12 hrs a day (work plus commute) so tight regulation is out I think.
Thanks.

Still feeding low carb canned food? Have you had his teeth checked?

I think starting over at .5 or .75 is probably the best idea. We tend to be a little more aggressive with cats coming out of remission because they can be so much harder to get back

Remember, you have to fill the depot first, so usually it's going to take several days to get that done (5-7 days)

If you can't test during the day due to work, make sure you always get a "before bed" test on the PM cycle and then run curves on the weekend (or your days off)

Thanks. I'll try him on 0.5 first then. He's on all wet (Fancy Feast). No clinical signs except he's lost a bit of weight and sneezing. Same signs as last time.

My first instinct if you think your cat has fallen out of remission is to get your kitty in to the vet. I understand you don't want the vet to manage your cat's dosing but there can be other things that contribute to high numbers. There could be an infection brewing. In many cases, caregivers see a change in BG numbers before their kitty has other symptoms. (Remember, cats are not good at letting you know that they don't feel well.) Like @Chris & China suggested, dental issues are notorious for throwing cats out of remission. If Silver hasn't had a dental, it may be worth getting this checked out.

The other reason I'm pushing you to make sure there's nothing else that is causing the high numbers is that it looks like someone flipped a switch and Silver's numbers went from green to pink over night. That usually means the kitty found contraband or there may be a medical issue other than FD.
