Dosing advice needed

Well, I stuck with 3.2 u for a full week and more and Rupert is still too high at amps/pmps. I didn't raise the dose sooner, since the first week I upped to 3.2, I gave a lot of fur shots, so didn't feel I had a good picture. I am also at the very last bit of my old insulin bottle, looks like 1 or 2 more doses left. Do I wait to raise the dose after using the new insulin one cycle? Or do I go ahead and raise the dose now? Also, how much would to raise? .25 ? I will test more once the dose is raised, I wasn't worried he was going to low this week and he was being cranky about testing, so figured might be a good time to give him a break before upping dose. I think I'd raise him to 3.4? Does that sound reasonable? He has room to drop. It might make him bounce. Or the higher pre shot numbers could be because the lower dose just isn't lasting long enough. Let's see what happens.
 
Ok Sue, I will try 3.4, starting tomorrow, when I can monitor him better. Does a new bottle of insulin make a difference?
 
Lynn, I remember reading somewhere on the board that the new bottle could be a bit more potent, We just started a new one and I lowered a wee bit the first time to see how it went. Maybe some more experienced ones will weigh in.
 
That's what I was wondering, Bobbie, so maybe when I start the new bottle, I will give a lower dose. How much did you lower it by? Thanks!
 
How old is the current bottle, Lynn? I just bought a new bottle for Bat-Bat last Monday; had her first dose that night. Didn't seem to make any real difference, but then she's on a pretty low dose ... so maybe I'm not best to weigh in on this. (All I know is that I had suspected that my old bottle, which was pushing 7 months of use, was starting to lose its potency. What's funny is that I've had to increase her dose since starting her on the new bottle!:confused:)

I just lowered it from 2.2 to 2.1. It was the PM dose. Look on his SS it was 9.25. He went the lowest at + 10 and the next day was a good day too.
 
My bottles are pretty old (at least six months) by the time I am done with it. So when I start a new bottle, I decrease the first couple of days by 0.20. However each time I do this, I really don't see any difference, so within usually a few 3-4 cycles, I am right back with my regular dose/sliding scale.
 
Thanks everyone for the great advice! For some reason, none of later posts showed up till this morning! o_O I kept with 3.2U this morning and will see if it makes any difference with the new bottle. I sort of doubt it, since my old bottle was a little over 2 months old. Rupert's high doses use it up pretty fast. Sure hoping the next dose increase will do the trick.
