Dose?

I'm so sorry no one was around! It looks like you decided to shoot 1.25u, and that's fine. Get a test in a few hours if you can and see how she does. If she goes up or stays flat, then you'll know in the future you could have tried the full dose. If she goes down with the reduced dose, then you'll know in the future to reduce on lower numbers.

Well, it's too bad she went up, but that's helpful data for next time she gives you a low PS.

How many hours between shot time and bedtime for you? If you can get a +3 or so, I would suggest giving the full 2u.

4 hours.
Could not pooping for a couple days cause a higher BG? She pooped (a lot) this morning after her shot, but had not pooped for a couple days before.

Yes, not pooping raises BG for lots of kitties. That could definitely contribute. Okay, as long as you can get a before-bed test, I'd go with the full dose. Are you comfortable with trying that?

Fingers and paws crossed for you here too! Keep us posted on how it goes tonight. I'm feeling hopeful that you're going to get some pretty numbers on this cycle.

I'm a fan of prozinc too. I've tried Lantus and Levemir as well and Sam did not like either of them. That's a little weird since most cats do well on both of those....but as I was told when I first joined here: the best insulin is the one that works for your cat.

For what it's worth, I'm not nervous. My $$ is on a lovely, safe cycle. (Now I'm going to be really sad if I'm wrong o_O)

@Djamila

How would I know, if I'm sleeping?
Pepper doesn't usually leave my bed at night or eat during the night.

Well, we might not know, and that's okay. Sleep is important. We should be able to get a sense of things by the before bed test. And then if she's high and flat tomorrow, that will be a sign that she had a good cycle tonight. I know that seems backwards, but she isn't used to good numbers, so if she gets some, she'll likely be high and flat for a day or two afterwards.

You could always put your testing supplies and a snack on your bedside table tonight. If Pepper does wake you up during the night asking for food, grab a test.

Perfect. She should be safe from here. Sleep well, and good job, mama! How are your nerves? Are you doing okay?

I got a little nervous when I saw the 157, but I'm ok now. I'm happy with her BG tonight. I'm hoping/praying she keeps up the good numbers. Now if I can help her with her neuropathy.

Hi Missy,

Just a note to say that I haven't used Prozinc so I wouldn't have been any help on the dosing earlier. Sorry. :(

(Was helping out with a hypo kitty on Feline Health till now.)

Did you skip? That would have been a tough one for any of us to know what to do. I probably would have suggested a BCS dose (Big Chicken Shot) since you weren’t going to be home all day - maybe 1.5?

I think it’s fine if you skipped though. It’s hard to know what to do when we have to leave and the numbers aren’t normal.

But what a great number!!! It’s so good to see her coming down like that.

I saw that. Wow! You're a great support system.
Other members have held my hand when Saoirse was running low, and I was very, very grateful to them. :)

This morning's event with Ringo was really tricky because he's having trouble getting food down. I'd have been bricking it if I'd been in that situation. Ringo's mama did a tremendous job of keeping his BG up long enough till she could get him to the vets.
