dose?

Hi,

I also posted in the main thread but forgot about my Prozinc peeps...

I've updated Yoshi's spreadsheet. I'm still getting in the hang of testing him in the morning before work, but I plan to do a curve this weekend. My vet said that she didn't want to up his dose, because he hit near 200 at times, but wants me to do a curve (which I will).

I just tested him and he's at 210. Is it wise to give the full 2u?

hmmmm...it's hard to say without any mid cycle tests. That curve will really help us see what's going on. Any chance you could get a test tonight at +2 or +3 to see how the dose is working?

Just if you can grab something at that point so you'll know how low he is going. That way, you know if he is going too low.

Then, if you get a low number, post here and Health and someone can help you figure out what to do next.

It really doesn't hurt their ears all that much. I know it seems like it would, but it's mostly just pressure they feel. If you press on the spot you pricked for a few seconds after the prick, that can also help reduce bruising.

Ok. I'll do it before bed.

No. I have one lancet left. I thought I had more in the box that came with the alpha track, but I guess I used them all. Can I get the regular 28 gage lancets at Walgreens? Can I move to the 30 now? I think those hurt less?

I'm going to test him in 10 min. He ate and got his shot about 2 hours ago

In a pinch you can use the lancet more than once if it's the kind that can be reset or if your free handing the pokes.

Yes you can try those. You might have to perfect your technique with the thinner lancets. If they are too hard to get a drop with you might have to go back to the thicker ones.

We have a lancet device and use one per cycle. It doesn't bother Chuck at all to reuse it.

He's 124 at +2. I couldn't get a morning reading this am. Should I leave a bit of dry out in addition to his afternoon snack. I have to go to wk :/

Yes, I would give a little snack now and maybe leave a little out for him too. How much is his afternoon snack?
@Rachel are you on to give your input?

I just gave him 4 temptations and a heaping tablespoon of the pate. I usually set the timer for +7 and leave about two tablespoons. I'm also trying to get him down to 2 1/2 cans per day because he's on a diet.

At any rate now I see the importance of mid cycle testing. I can't wait to curve on Friday.

It's just so hard w wk and not letting him have food 2 hours prior. I'll test when I get home at +9?

Any tests in the cycle is good data. You could move the snack up a bit of you are more comfortable with that. Maybe before or at +6. The temptations and spoon of food should help slow down his drop.
+9 is good to see how long he's surfing or how quick he starts to go back up.
Today might be a little quicker because of the extra or longer because of the nice blue.

The blue at +2 shows it was a good idea to hold at the 2 units! So far. With less food he might need a decrease in the future. Only time will tell! :cat:

Geez all this time he could have been hypo while at wk. but his eve pre shot is always around the 200s lately so hopefully not. I can't wait to curve him. I dread it but I need to solve this puzzle

I'm not sure if it indicates he's going too low... The 2 units could be his perfect dose. Without the morning preshot test it's hard to tell if it was a big drop. Once you get the curve you'll get an idea of how is working. His preshot tests have been pretty consistent the last 5 pm cycles so I agree he probably isn't going too low but can't say for sure.

That's good. He either got down to some green or surfed in blues all morning/afternoon. I'm excited to see his curve too!

Looks like nice numbers today!

We've all been where you are, and we're excited to see the curve! That will really help us figure out what's going on.

Is there anything we can explain more/better to you?
