? Dose reduction?

Yes on SLGS Frankie gets a reduction for going under 90. But you may wish to reconsider which protocol you're following. You're now testing plenty to follow TR, in which case there's no reduction until under 50.

BTW for a curve you don't need to test every hour, every two hours is plenty (unless you see a number low enough to warrant additional attention) - so rare to be telling someone they need to test less!

No I'll stay on SLGS. I don't really want him going below 50 which is 2.7. SLGS aims to keep the peak number as 100 (5.6) and that is fine by me, as I use an Alphatrak meter. And I tested every hour because I do not have much daytime data on him, weekends are the only time I can do it to see if I can see when onset and nadir is.

Thank you. Yes knowing Frankie I will get a huge long bounce in the blacks, it's normal for him. And it will last 3 days. Good in a way as I am out from early morning until late night tomorrow so I can go enjoy myself knowing he will be safe with the sitter.

I am confused by some of your notes on your spreadsheet ...on yesterday you have "Am shot given 30 mins prior to shot time and also pm shot to get back on schedule" ....If you gave BOTH the AM shot and the PM shot 30 minutes early, each of those shots can act like a dose increase. We don't recommend moving shot times by more than 15 minutes per cycle or one 30 minute change per day

Also, on today's you have "LC food at am +2 and +3 trying to feed the drop so he doesn't bounce, but just keeps going up!"....Not sure what you mean here...I don't see any "drop" to be feeding.

Anyway, congrats on the reduction and hope Frankie doesn't decide to bounce too high!

Thank you. It's all down to everyone on this forum. When I joined my vet had him on 5 units and wanted to go higher!!!

I was trying to feed the drop from 13 to 10 this morning, someone mentioned to try to stop him bouncing so much from that. I read posts on here where people had given doses an hour earlier due to life reasons and most people said it can't be helped sometimes, so that it why I bought the dose forward so much. I didn't realise everyone read the notes, I thought they were for me really. I will try and make clearer in future.

Crikey, Sue; what a drop!!!
Yes, I would think the sheer speed of that would trigger a bounce (apart from the numbers themselves).
I think I read on here somewhere that, as a guideline, drops of 5.5 mmol per hour or over can trigger a bounce. (And with Bertie that is the case; but as with everything I guess it varies from cat to cat....)

Congrats on the dose reduction. :)

Thanks Eliz. So far, he's creeping up slowly, nothing like the bounces before, but there's still time!!! I had to give a reduced dose this morning as I am not around until late evening, so I'll keep my fingers crossed that he won't go too high in the meantime.

Looks like he's gearing up for the bounce, although this morning's reduced dose will play a part in the higher numbers.

Next time you have to go out, you might try leaving plenty of food instead of reducing the dose. It's an option thst doesn't have as big of an impact as changing the dose. many people who work full-time do that.

I'm not saying there was a problem with reducing, just that this is another option for you to consider And it has less impact overall than changing the dose.

Have a great time at your weekend festivities.

Thanks Julie. The sitter came in twice today to feed and inject, plus I did leave a bit extra out. Seems like the bounce is breaking again as in similar numbers today as I was last night.
