so we had that skipped dose a day ago, and than a 2 unit dose, and last night i skipped insulin again, because i fell asleep before his bs rose enough,

now in the am its 448 after no insulin, since i've skipped 2 doses bc of low bs in the past 2 days..... i'm sure all this bouncing isn't great for him but
i wasn't comfortable shooting him in the 70s. or even at 110. and than i fell asleep.

so i'm going to start a dose reduction, 1.75 for the next 3 days and see how we do....

thursday i should be able to get at least most of a curve done. i've been a busy grandma/cat care taker these days.

too bad she won't let the cat come near here. it might improve her health and happiness. he's a good cat man.

alright if anyone has any advice or other suggestions other than a dose reduction let me know!

Sounds like a plan to me, because I think you are absolutely right about not shooting into those low numbers. There are many of us that will shoot those low numbers but we have lots and lots of data that support that it is safe to do so.

Where you have just really gotten to a nice 12/12 shooting pattern and an extremely hectic life right now you also have to be comfortable with the dose that you are giving. While we all hope for our kitties to got OTJ there is also nothing wrong with just getting them well regulated and not trying to hold those double digits all day long, especially when life is so busy that you can't be with them to keep an eye on them.

Even with all the data I have on Musette I still don't shoot below 100 if I can't be around to watch her like a hawk, I would rather she just stay below the renal threshhold than to fall too low with me not here to intervene.

hey mel.

and on the other post you commented on thanks!

maybe we can certify you as a diabetes educator for cats.

this might be dumb.
but what's the renal threshold? what is my goal to stay below all in all?

pre any insulin satan was symptomatically diabetic to me. drinking tons of water, peeing so much it was insane

we no longer have those issues thankfully. and hopefully the routine here will start to settle down. we're getting there.

thanks :)

renal threshhold is anything above 250 that is when they start spilling glucose into their urine, it is also the point where organ damage can occur.
