We usually give between 3000 and 5000 mcg/day, regardless if weight. Any excess is just peed out.
The tablets are water soluble, so you can dissolve them in a 1tsp of warm water and mix with the food. Just make sure that whatever brand you buy, it does not contain the sweetener Xylitol, which is toxic to cats.
I found a sublingual form which disolves quickly in the mouth _I just gently hold callis mouth closed and she has no choice but to take it. Natural Factors is the manufacturer. Im going to start giving her 3-4 a day !!

Be careful with the sublingual....sometimes they have xylitol in them as a sweetner which can be harmful to kitties....or they can have sugar in them which is not good for diabetic kitties.
Stella was in pretty deep with her Neuropathy, so I started with 3 in the morning and 3 in the evening. I wanted to make sure it wasn't urinated out in the first 12 hours while she was becoming regulated and still had excessive urination. Once Stella was regulated I started with the 5 vitacost version mentioned by Sherry & Zoe and administer in her food in the PM since the supplement also has great results/testing for regulating sleep. Good luck!
