We just completed LB’s 6th cycle of .25 U dose increase tonight. His numbers are better, but still not in the green or blue. Should we try to stick with the 2.25U a bit longer?

Yes I think so. Could you get a later test in tonight by chance? I do wonder if he's trying to clear a bounce from those yellows still, but I think he's still due to for an increase. Maybe @JanetNJ or @Deb & Wink could confirm.

Yes, that would be good.

Another thing to keep in mind, especially if pre-shots are on the lower side. +2 is a good indication of where the cycle will go. Noticeable drop, be prepared to monitor. Going up, probably a less active, quiet cycle.

Thank you. I’ll report back his +3 and go from there. He seems to have more bursts or energy today, so I do think the levels are decreasing, but maybe just not enough.

If you bump the dose tomorrow AND crack open the new box of syringes, just keep in mind that you have two variables. (That’s not necessarily a problem, just a consideration as you evaluate the data)

I just did this morning. It is hard to tell on the whole unit syringes when you’re between units. Hope I gave him enough. It was the best I could see to halfway between 2-3.

Yes indeed! Those are all good signs. Wink had dandruff patches the size of nickels and dimes.

Bless his heart! It isn’t fair what diabetes does to our precious kitties, but I am thankful we can treat it!

The 5 P's plus appetite are a simple assessment for seeing how your kitty is doing.
Let's see if I remember them. Peeing, pooping, purring, preening, playing.

So how are the 5 P's for Little Bit?

No signs of diabetic neuropathy I hope?

All signs of the 5 Ps+A and no signs of neuropathy. He is very lively, and for that I am thankful. As far as pooping goes, how can I give him laxative now? The cat lax he was getting is full of sugar, I’m sure. No more of that. Miralax?

My civie gets Miralax and the generic is fine, 1/8 teaspoon a day.
And (or) you can give plain psyllium husk fiber. Again, 1/8 teaspoon a day is the starting dose.

Increase the dose if the 1/8 teaspoon has no effect.

Both of these get mixed with the wet food. They tend to get "gummy" quickly, so if your cat doesn't gobble down their food all at one sitting, you may need to put a little bit of the laxative in a small amount of food. I add extra water to the food too. Then feed your cat the main meal.

I also use the generic Miralax for Tyler's brother, no taste at all mixed in with the wet food and some water. He doesn't even know it's in the food

Just mix it up really good, I use it myself sometimes lol no taste at all.

He is proud of himself, so currently taking a nap upside down on the bed with his belly cooling off. He sleeps in the silliest positions! I am quite proud of him, too!

Fantastic! Love the color blue myself.

Don't be surprised if the PMPS is high. He may not be used to those low blue BG numbers and is likely to "bounce". Yup, I see that Little Bit jumped back up to the pink BG ranges. Patience.
