Looking for some help as to if/when we should change the insulin for Itty Bitty. I don't have a chart done yet but can list what I have gathered thus far since it's only been a few days.

Sat 12/31-Home at noon from vet, 5U of PZI at 8am, +3/173, Hypo episode down to 40, skipped evening dose
Sun 1/1- +24/579, 9:15/1U, +3/304, +8/290, +10/451, 9:15/1U
Mon 1/2- +12/368/1U, +4/209, +8/468, 9:15/1U
Tues 1/3- +12/405/1U, +4/160, +12/474/1U

It's been 3 full days of 1U but it stills seems to be all over the board, sometimes better than others & certainly no pattern. I just worry about it being over 300 so many times or is that normal at first? I don't want to cause any unneccesary damage to him. He's eating well & seems ok personality wise but today he's been sleeping a lot. Not sure if that's the norm from being through so much in a short time or a sign? He also seems to be putting on a lil weight, by looks anyways but will get him on the scale to check. I'm free feeding him Friskees pate's with added water & cooked turkey for treats during shots/testing until I get the freeze dried stuff tomorrow. Also I have to be out of state next monday for work & he usually gets his shots at 9:15 however my hubby leaves for work at 6am. It's so new to us we don't have anyone who can come do it so do I need to kennel him, have hubby give him his shot 3hrs early if over 200 or just skip it? What do you all do in that situation? Also I bought the keytone strips but pretty sure I won't get a spoon under him in the act & we tried the spoon full of litter with locking him up, he didn't go. Can you stick the strips down in the wet urine after he goes or will the litter throw it off? It's corn litter so it doesn't immediately absorb it. Thanks for any help!

Welcome to PZI! I post here and on Health so have replied to you over there too. We are a small but friendly group. There are usually people on in the am and pm. If you have an emergency, post on Health where you'll have more eyes. But here is the best place for dose advice as everyone uses or has used your insulin.

Early days. Your 160 today was the best number yet. He does seem to be bouncing a bit. Some cats need several days to settle into a dose, some don't. Don't know which Boo is yet. I would give him a few more cycles to see how he does. If he continues to run 3-400s at preshot, then I would consider upping the dose.

To get a urine sample from Oliver, we had to leave him in a room with a brand clean litter box of aquarium gravel. He would have to christen the new box and the gravel wouldn't absorb the urine.

Two hours early would be a problem to shoot. Let's wait till you get there and see how he is doing.

It would be a huge help to us if you could set up a spreadsheet. Sign onto Google and search Templates for FDMB spreadsheet. To share with us, go to File and choose Publish to the Web. Then put the URL in your signature. It's kind of tricky so ask for help if you need it.

Thanks Sue! I'm a lil worried as I'm going back to work tomorrow & won't be able to test as often  I travel 600 miles a week (usually just tues/weds/thurs) so I can't just come home to do it either. I do have a flexible schedule but prolly the soonest I could get back each day would be +6. I know any testing is better than nothing though. Pretty sure I got the spreadsheet set up but not sure if it works, please let me know if you can see it.

So much easier to see on the spreadsheet. Good job! It looks like he is settling into the dose. Yes, it seems like he is bouncing all over, but we should be able to see some trends and patterns soon. Patience, patience.

Anytime you can get a +6, it will really help. Some people set the alarm at night, wake up and get the test and go back to sleep. Why it matters: Yesterday with your high preshot numbers we might think he is just high and raise the dose, if we didn't have that blue nadir. But it shows the insulin is working and he is not super high, he is coming down at mid cycle. Completely changes the picture.

Life happens. Do what you can. Weekends are useful for curves which really fill out the picture.

Welcome to PZI and glad you came over!
great job on the Ss and testing.
I looked at the SS and I am thinking that the last couple of days Bitty is recovering
from the 5 unit shot.
Depending on how she did today I would hold either .5 or 1 unit for a few days to see how
she does. I believe it can take up to 3 days for a bounce to clear,
but you are doing wonderful

Thank you! +4 today was good at 225 & I did another at +10 which was 378 so I went ahead & bumped it back to 1U for tonight. He really is getting back to him old self though, even running around playing this morning. Made me cry as they're my kids & I can't stand to know he's sick but can't tell you. He did gain some weight back as well-went from 7.8 sat to 8.4 last night so that's a good sign! I also went & got the 100U syringes to better give .5 doses but I still need to look up the conversion chart to figure out how to do that. I'm doing the best I can to get this under control quickly but I wouldn't even be half of where I am today if it wasn't for everyone here's help! I am super greatful for this place :YMHUG: Oh & I like the SS cause I can update it from my phone instead of draging out the laptop!

Gaining weightis a great sign, and so is getting back to normal
with playing...
You are doing great!
