Check out Shady's numbers the last few days: 5/3 AM: 188 (0u), PM 228 (1u); 5/4 AM: 236 (1u), PM 158 (0u); 5/5 AM: 109 (0u), PM: 138 (0u); 5/6 AM: 122, PM: 92

So, no insulin needed for 2 1/2 days now, and he had several other days lately in the blue. I am hoping this is a good sign??? I don't want to jump the gun, I know he could go back to being high and needing insulin again, but I am hoping maybe this is the beginning of being diet controlled? I stopped feeding the dry Wellness Core on Friday, maybe that made the difference. Fingers crossed!

One thing, he is not eating much at all. He isn't sick, seems to feel good and is energetic and happy, just not much appetite or doesn't like his FF anymore. Maybe I was used to his increased appetite when his BG was higher, but he has just been picking at his food. :( Hoping his BG won't go up again once he is eating more normally.

Those are really great numbers to see, especially since they are alpha-track numbers.
I am hoping this is a good sign???

Yes, a very good sign! Ditching the dry appeared to have done wonders.
Keep a good eye on his food intake. You don't want him to go too long with not enough food and get sick. If you feed small portions in multiple meals during the day/night, you will spread the boost to the BG from eating more evenly and give his pancreas the best chance of keeping up and regulating like it's supposed to do.

All of this is very encouraging!

Sheri -

Shady is really looking good! Hoping the great numbers continue, and that you'll become one of those statistics we all hope to become - OTJ! Good luck!

Looking good, Shady!! Great job, Sheri - hoping this is the beginning of great things!!!

Libby (and Hershey, too!)

Well, this isn't good it's wonderful!

I wouldn't worry too much about the food, they do eat A LOT less once their BG is normal.

My cat could consume as much food as was placed in front of her before and now she eats just 3.75 ounces a day which holds her right at 9 lbs.

How exciting. I do think taking away the dry food did the trick.

So which one is Shady, the one sticking his tongue out at us? Very cute.

Yep, Shady is the one with his tongue out! :) He was washing Ella, which is why she has that smug, pleased look on her face. :) Unfortunately, they don't get along very well anymore, in fact just now Ella was on my bed with me and Shady walked in the room and Ella hissed and chased him out. I used to think Shady was alpha cat but now I am starting to wonder. I think I need Jackson Galaxy to come visit.

Shady's BG has continued to be normal, in the 80s and 90s the past 5 days. My vet thinks his diabetes was a result of glucose toxicity from having stress hyperglycemia while he was undergoing radiation therapy for a tumor for 3 weeks, and has recovered after being treated with insulin and diet changes So, so far so good!
