don't know where to post this re: condos

in my opinion yes, all the insulin support forums do. some may just not call them "condos" but in essence people for the most part start a thread per day in whichever forum is appropriate for their insulin, instead of a new thread for every single question that might come up thru the day. that way things don't get missed 'cause it's nice and organized

it stands for a cat condo - you know, the carpet covered shelves and nooks where kitties hang out.

the reason we're perhaps more "on" it on the TR forum is because there are about 70 posters who regularly post there. if everyone opened multiple posts a day, people who needed help could easily end up on the second page, overwhelmed by multiple posts by others.

the reason is simply so everyone can get help that needs it.

we encourage people to keep editing their subject line to reflect whatever their current question is so that all the information for one cat is in one place. it also gets better advice for each person so that their story stays all together.

Yep, what Julie said. The reason everyone is asked to start just one thread a day, which can have as many questions in it as you want, is to ensure that everyone's questions get seen. If 70 people all posted three or four questions a day, a potential emergency, like a possible hypo or DKA, could be buried under all those separate threads. You can update the subject line as many times as you want if you add questions.

By asking for one thread a day per poster, we're ensuring fairness for everyone who posts in the ISG forums. People getting buried by multiple threads by one poster isn't fair.

There is no rule about the number of posts you can make per day. I disagree that lumping all questions into one post is always a good idea. It is a good idea if they are all related to one problem. Certainly, you can get people confused by making a large number of posts in one day.

There is also no rule about where you "have to" post.

Quite often, it is advised to make additional posts in other forums, depending on the need.
You can have a thread in LL for the day, but if you have some particular health question, it's a good idea to post another thread in that forum to ask your question. You could also feel a need to post a query in a forum for another insulin to gather info in case you are planning to switch insulins, or you could post in the high dose forum if you have a concern that your cat is having a resistance issue.

The traffic on the boards isn't what it used to be in the old days. Lantus Tight Regulation can easily have more than one page of active members on any given day. The main advice givers in Lantus Tight Regulation have asked that people keep their cat in one "condo" there because they only have so much time in their days to commit to answering questions on the boards. They can only get to opening so many threads - they have lives, and usually diabetic cats of their own - and already spend hours helping other members on the board.

There is no rule that you have to follow the request for one condo. There also is no rule that they have to open more than one a day from you either. They read threads as a benefit to us so organizing information in a way that makes it easier for the people helping to enable to help as many people as possible in as little time as possible is always nice too.

If you feel something just needs to be in its own post, go ahead and post it. Just accept that the advise givers may not open more than one post by you in the Lantus Tight Regulation ISG on that day. There are enough people around that it would probably get exposure, but don't get upset if you don't get the response you want if you don't follow the courtesy they request.

You can always take questions about health issues in to the Health forum. Sometimes the request for one condo in a day can come across as a bit harsh. I don't think it is ever meant to be. It is just someone posting as quickly as possible in order to move on and address issues with our kitties instead of organization issues.

We all have the same goals as to ask for and give advice and in the best way we can for beans and kitties.

It is important to remember that we are a union of caring people that sincerely want to help each other through scary waters.

In reality we are all holding hands in friendship and understanding. let's never lose site of the amount of affection that happens here. It is a blessing.

And thank you, Rebecca, for all you do for us. (((((Rebecca)))))
