Dont know what to do! BG now 413 5 hours after 5 u shot!

So discouraged Why can't I regulate Rusty's BG??
(On my SS,) I've been trying 2 different dosing pairs given to by my Vet. 5/5. 6/7 (8)
Today, Premeal am was
423. Have 5U
5 hours later 413!
Should I give him his pm dose?
Should I feed him?
Rusty's symptoms of head tilt, imbalance, unsteady walk are back from last summer , maybe that's contributing dont know.
Feel like crying so worried

JUST made Vet appt for Monday afternoon
 
5 units and you got this? If you're certain it wasn't a furshot I have no idea. I can't see why you wouldn't feed him and continue with the PM dose.
Don't cry, get through the weekend keeping notes so you're ready for Monday.
PS. Noah bounces, his absolute max dose is 5 units even if he goes off the scale. It never ends does it. :bighug:

You know now that you mention fur shot, the needle seemed bent when I took it out, never does. I rubbed the site as always but maybe I did miss
 
I'm only popping in and out this weekend. Every time a thread gets a new post it goes back to the top of the list, nothing wrong with that and good if you need help which is not really what I'm doing right now. I've bent syringes in Nigel, it's totally possible. You can rub ears and pull tails but never rub an injection site too much, checking to see if you missed is okay and some insulins stink so that's another way to tell. I use a 1/2" needle on Noah, haven't had a furshot in a year but I never had the nerve to do a scruff shot with such a long needle.

Maybe speak with you get about a different insulin. The skipped shot allowed the glucose to rise for 24 hrs. So high number is expected.

Hi Paula, thanks for responding. I feed Rustynonlupy moist food & follow Dr Piersons chart advising 50% protien 20-40% fat less than 4%?
That said, Im trying different kinds that fit the criteria (close as possible):
Tikicat
Beyond
Daves
Newmans Own
Fancy Feast
I do allow Rusty to eat throufh out the day Break his 6 oz into 2 0z servings that he gets when he wants. I also give him 2 or 3 treats each time Intest
