Funny you should mention that now, Wendy. I too just learned about a couple of links for shopping.
I used to order from Hock's, but they got sold and the new owners, no longer gave commision to FDMB.
I just yesterday noticed the link to Amazon and Walmart. I shop them a lot, so will now use the link here.
 
i never really paid attention to the shopping links before yesterday. I didn't realize how important they were! I've already used the links to make orders to Walmart and Amazon!

My DW does a lot of shopping on Amazon's and WalMart's web site. I showed her the links on FDMB and she is using them now to access the retailers.

Wow I'm not here often but now that I know about the shopping links above I will log on here and shop through links above (I use amazon and walmart a a lot especially at this time of year)- Is it possible that some one could post this on facebook in lantus land? maybe just Rebecca's post about financial concerns? not sure what the "rules" are but if I had seen this earlier it would have given fdmb a lot of $$ as I am almost done with xmas shopping. Just an idea as alot of fdmb members do not check over here any longer...
ETA- I posted a link to Rebecca's financial request on my wall on fb-
 
Walmart is an affiliate store but for some reason it's not listed on the Shop page. The Walmart icon is at the top of the boards, between the Shop icon and the hometesting kit icon, and you see it only when you are not logged into the board. Might be a bug Rebecca needs to fix.

By using this special tracking link, your purchase will be linked back to FDMB and Rebecca will get the commission :smile:
 
I always use the shop links and shop Amazon a lot. Now that Wags is there I may start using them too.

Thanks for bringing attention to Rebecca's post. I didn't notice it. If at the very least we gave FDMB a Xmas present each it would be a big help, as well as shopping, of course.

I am adding SOME of the more commonly used links to the top of each FDMB page. Right now they only appear if you use the prosilver template (which the vast majority of people do).

You can also just hit the SHOP button that is above the messages and it will take you to the page where I am trying to list all the affiliate links.

I told my sister about the link to Amazon (she's not a member of the FDMB) but darn it! she's already finished with her Christmas shopping! Are we really sisters? I haven't even started mine! She's going to keep it in mind for the future though. Hope it helps.

I just noticed that MP3 songs are cheaper at Amazon than on iTunes. Going to buy songs/albums for my iPod from Amazon now :-D Amazon also has apps for smartphones/tablets.
 
Just bought all of DD's cats and dogs' Christmas toys through Amazon link at top of page. Plus a little something for me :-D
Free shipping made it that much sweeter. :-D

Don't forget to click on the SHOP link, and find lots more stores.

I just realized that this weekend is the last weekend to get online shopping done and have everything delivered in time for Christmas :o
 
Without asking for the dirty details, I'm curious as to why the cost to maintain this site is so high confused_cat . I've been in the web business for 15+ years and I presently pay about $4-5 per month for my hosting. This covers all my web sites (10+) and storage. Unlimited databases, email, etc. This is pretty much the norm nowadays. The $400 mentioned in the plea would cover me for more than 5 years including domain registrations. When I first started out, we (not in the resell business anymore) were charging $50/mo for one site, but those days are long gone. There must be something here I'm not considering, but I can't think of it.
