My cat, Dolo, was switched to Lantus when I suggested that we try a different medication when his fructosamine test came back high.
We have switched him about 2 weeks ago. His numbers are all over the place and trending higher than when he was on Prozinc.
I don't know if the needles are a problem. The ones I ordered (U-100) have very small needle tips and half the time we don't feel like we are giving him any medication (especially since the dosage is a smaller amount of liquid than he had on prozinc).

He is on all wet Pate foods (we mostly feed Tiki Cat after dark since that seemed to give him decent results).
Any tips?
 
I’m having trouble opening your SS link :( Are you able to try adding it to your signature as an alternative? :)

Just a couple of things. Your SS says you are using Prozinc but at some point you swapped over to Lantus. Can you put a line in the SS where you did the swap over please and put STARTED LANTUS in the line (coloured please)
Also you need to be getting tests in during the cycles as that is the only way we can see how the insulin is affecting the BGs.
Lantus is dosed on the nadir or lowest point not the preshots

On your SS could you put switched to lantus sort of in the middle , I don't think
others will see it in the remarks column.
Or above the day you switched to lantus make a line and put it there, Thanks

Also where you have an x or a blank cell in the AMPS and the AMPS is it that
you didn't test. You need to do more testing during each cycle .
 
Tha 46 you got says the 1.5 unit dose is too high. He’s going low and bouncing. Please reduce to 1.25 units.

Also, the spreadsheet you are using was created from a template in a certain FB group. They took our template, modified it, and introduced errors that cause it to blow up on certain platforms, including my iPad. If you could use our original template and copy over the data, that would be helpful.
 
I used the chart linked from here, not a stolen page so not sure why it’s glitching. And I did put when he was changed to lantus in the chart.

I will do more midday testing and see what we get. I honestly think my needles were a problem more than anything else since they were super short and not getting under the skin enough (in my opinion). I switched to the U40 syringes I have on hand (and of course adjusted the dose down to .6) and his readings seem to be better.

On the top of your spreadsheet, on the left, 3rd row down, under Insulin you have Prozinc. That should be updated to Lantus.

You should be able to get U-100 syringes with half unit markings and longer needles. I tried a couple different lengths before figuring out what worked for me. The 1.5 unit dose on the U-100 syringes (or 0.6 units on U-40 syringes), is still too much insulin. Please reduce the dose.

Our spreadsheet does not have the stuff about "normal range" that is listed in the top right of your spreadsheet. That is a hallmark of the spreadsheet from the FB group. We don't mind if they want to use the spreadsheet template, so we don't call it stolen, just wish they'd acknowledge where they got it from and fix the bug that causes it to blow up on smaller devices. Many of us use tablets to check to see how the kitties are doing. Those of us comfortable commenting on dosing will always open the spreadsheet before we comment. So for me, it means having to move to where my computer is.
 
Please update your spreadsheet to read Lantus
Also please link your spreadsheet to your signature only because you have it
at the end of your first post, members might not look there for it. Do you see how mine reads at the end of my post and everyone else's.
If you don't know how to do it we can ask 2 members here that can help you
out, just ask :cat:
In order for members to look at your spreadsheet they would have to go all the way
up to your first post, they may not think to do that
