Hello,
When I saw the new vet 3 weeks ago she asked me to do a curve in 3 weeks, so I need to do it sometime over the 4 day weekend I have coming up. She noticed on my SS I'd been doing some Sunday curves testing every three hours, but she said she usually tests every 2 hours when cats come in to the clinic--at 8am, 10am, noon, 2pm, and 4pm.
I've usually not given food for 2 hours before testing, so I'm wondering what people do when they do curves for the vet. I do like to give him a little snack after testing which works fine testing every 3 hours. He's a slow eater, so if I feed him right after I do the first test it will take at least 30 minutes and probably longer to get him to eat a decent amount. Should I be concerned about this? I imagine the cats going to the vet will have just eaten before their first test at the vet.
BTW, I wasn't able to maintain the dose the vet requested for the 3 weeks. I've had to go down because he's had some lower BG numbers for over a week now. The last couple days instead of giving a dose in response to the BG, I've been adjusting the doses to try to even out between am and pm. Some am doses were very small because the BG was so low I was afraid to be gone to work all day and give him much insulin at all.
Thanks,
