Hello,
The overview is this :first time at vet in 2 years) glucose was about 240 in March. She's been inappropriately urinating after her surgery and few times within the last year (couch and piles of clothes) so I did a full panel. May 21 it was 322 on the full blood panel test. Started Glipizide 05/22 and Masha had a seizure 06/06 4am (abt 5 hrs after meds).
Saw the vet on the 6th, he said keep her on glipizide since her glucose was 103, 3 hrs after seizure and eating a whole can (usually I give half).
Today, my tracker arrived. I tested her again, now 3 days off meds and shes 102 today. I'm thinking she's misdiagnosed, although glucose was 2+ in urine.

I will continue to test her with the glucometer and am having the Libre put on her this week. I'll know more information within time but what do you guys think? Is she misdiagnosed? As of now, 3 days off the meds, she's in normal range. It may have been stress related hyperglycemia. And her first seizure must have been hypo from the meds (since she may be misdiagnosed).
My main question is: if your cat isn't given diabetes meds like insulin (or glipizide, although I see almost nobody uses it) wouldn't their ranges sky rocket??

Hmmm.... with the glipizide in the mix, I hesitate to offer an opinion on this because I am not familiar with its action, but boy, just based on the numbers you describe... I too would suspect a mis-diagnosis. I think if I were you I'd hold off on starting the glipizide back up until you have some more numbers (i.e., just as you are doing).

The one piece of data that suggests diabetes is the glucose in the urine-- that wouldn't be there from vet stress, it would have had to be longer term. Wondering if the inappropriate urinating is from a UTI? "Infection stress" can also raise BG, at least in diabetic cats, not sure about non-diabetics.

I would not start back on the glipizide either way. It is not a suitable therapy for diabetic cats.
I would keep testing your kitty twice a day to see what the BGs are. If Insulin is needed I would only use an insulin such as Lantus which is a longer lasting gentle insulin. .... glipizide makes the pancreas work harder and you will have no chance of achieving remission with it.

it does not look like your cat is diabetic... or just needed a change of food.
