Hi all,

Tonight, I am very stressed after a call to my vet.
As you can see on the SS of Capoo, he was in the 300's yesterday for all the day, and today, the same.
My vet started to speak to me about insulin resistance, antibodies and acromegaly... I'm totally disappointed, as I have already lost my dog at the end of last year.

I have to precise that Capoo is fed with Orijen freely, and that his weight is 8,2 kg. So his dose of Lantus is currently 0,5 IU/kg/shot.

Could you please have a look at my spreadsheet, and tell me if it's inspire you?
Does it look like an acro?

Thanking you so much!

Sophie

Maybe. It is not as bad as my MurrFee. At low dose or about 5 or so units of Levemir his PS would be in the 400-500's or so and then increase after eating and would go to HI (>600) and then go down to 400-500 next PS

Hello,
I am as new as you and I don't give dosing advice, but to me your numbers seem to be totally fine for a newbie. Even too good. Take a look at my cat's SS. My vet says that Sassu is doing well. My vet said that if a cat is used with high numbers then we cannot bring him down suddenly because even 299 is low for them. And I see that you have played with the units quite a bit. I'm sure someone "older" will tell you off:) Don't worry. I have learned that vets don't know much about diabetes and dosing either. Most vets don't know that insulin takes time to start working and sometimes numbers are too high because the dose is too high not too low. The lowest numbers are the ones that count. Good luck!

Thanks Lilian,

I can see that you experience also a lot of red and purple...

Fingers cross!

@Wendy&Neko -

If you're around is there any chance that you might have a look at Capoo's spreadsheet for Sophie, please? (I know nothing about IAA/acromegaly so I don't know what to look for. The only thing that jumps out at me from Capoo's spreadsheet is that the dose has been increased in whole units.)
