Hello,
I just received a new bottle of Azodyl from ProbioticSmart ($30 now but still the best deal - please let me know if you find a better one!). Unfortunately, the idiot mailman put it in my mailbox, which must have been 130-150 degrees, and it was there all the time I went to town to pick it up at the Post Office. (I had instructed them, as always, to hold it for pickup, and had even received a card the day before telling me to pick it up - and it had a big red "Perishable" sticker and big green "Refrigerate on Arrival." I could shoot that man. :-x ) It was most definitely warm. Dr. Jen said not to use it, but you know this stuff is expensive, even from the best source, and in any case it would take time for more to arrive.
It has not turned light brown, but is still a light cream color. I've always assumed Azodyl turned dark when it got old - in fact, I've received some, from another source, that was already light brown when it arrived, and am virtually certain the light color means it is still good. But this was SO warm... nailbite_smile Does anyone know for sure? I don't want to waste it, but even more, don't want to give Ragnar Azodyl that isn't working for him.
By the way, I have CRF myself (at last check, Ragnar's renal values were actually in the high normal range!); mine is Stage Three, and after seeing how it helped Ragnar I began taking it myself. It makes a great difference - since this arrived (the day after we ran out) I haven't been taking it, and feel really punk. One solution might be to get a new bottle for Ragnar and take this "compromised" one myself. I really do care more about his health than about mine - cats are so fragile, too, compared to us big old beans. ;-)
Blessings!
