Does anyone use the freestyle libre?
I keep getting a sensor error. I been trying for two hrs. I worried about giving him his pm insulin.

If the error does not clear after a few 10 minute periods that usually means the little filament that goes into the skin is either partially or fully pulled out of the skin.
My first sensor lasted the entire 14 days but I did have a few srescan in 10 minute errors but those cleared up and the sensor continued to work. Another lasted about 10 days then I got the sensor error/try rescanning in 10 minutes but that never cleared and then I got message to replace sensor. The last one lasted 13 ½ days before I go the sensor error that never cleared.

How long has the sensor been attached?
Is is covered? Where is it located?

I finally got a reading. It's been on him for about 11 days. I don't have it cover. He doesn't really mess it. He has licked it few times.

I found I got that error when there was a rapid change in BG. But Im no expert…I’m new to FD and the Libre, it’s just been on for 4 days but I think it will fall off long before 14 days ….seems like edges are coming up….and it really, REALLY bugs him…but he is very… “opinionated” and “dramatic”. My goal was to have it on him as we switch insulin. I was having a lot of trouble getting enough blood with ear pricks … he was getting so distressed.

That is correct when there is rapid increase or decrease in BG you can get the error one time or a few times. I always use a meter and do the ear poke when Libre numbers are weird or if I can’t get a reading and I am worried. Libre numbers can be a miss sometimes. Also scanned numbers and downloaded numbers can be off. It happened a few times. Great tool with a few quirks you just have to be aware and use it for trends mostly. I pay attention to the arrows and if rapidly decreasing I pay more attention. At numbers under 100 it can get wacky. Especially under 60. That is when it is crucial to check with ear poke

agree with the others. I use the libre 2. Sometimes they get funky and say sensor error for awhile and magically start working. There is a great facebook group called freestyle libre for dogs and cats. They have a wealth of knowledge on there and I've learned a lot. When in doubt on the accuracy always do a blood check. A lot of times libre will send you a new sensor if they malfunction before 14 days. You just can't tell them its for a cat. they've replaced two of mine and the reader. Its technically approved for human use only.
