Does anyone feed their Diabetic natural balance L.I.D?

Looking for info on Natural balance L.i.d
Currently feeding tigger senior consult wet
From royal canine. Seems like it isnt working
Well as his glucose last night was 28.2 looking
For A different alternative went to the store
And was advised to try Natural balance lid chicken and peas
And salmon and green peas any opinions ?
 
Careful, Most natural balance canned foods look too high in carbs at 12%... See here http://www.catinfo.org/docs/FoodChartPublic9-22-12.pdf. You want column C (%calories from carbs ) to be under 10%, although I personally recommend it to be 5-8% if not lower.

In fact I have a dislike for that food since Tiggy used to be in remission and I fed him that due to an allergy and it was so high carb that he came out of remission and has been back on insulin ever since. That was a year ago and even though I feed him low carb fancy feast now, the damage was done.. Even though I only fed natural balance for a few weeks ;(

Hello, I would like to concur that I think NB must be high in carbs and not good quality. Bandit also had this brand as part of her diet before she recently came up with a high blood sugar reading. Bandit is mostly outdoors and feral personality. She was not able to graze on dry food in between meals. I only gave her 1 cup of dry food a day at the most. Seemingly, there might be a correlation to her numbers coming down when I began reassessing her diet better.
 
I started feeding my in remission cat Natural Balance canned duck & pea 2 months ago. It was recommended for her kitty brother who has IBD, and trying to feed them separately was exhausting. I emailed NB to get the carbs and here is the response:

Thank you for contacting Natural Balance and for your interest in our products. Our Green Pea & Duck canned cat formula contains 5.51% Carbohydrates on an As-Fed Basis. Our Green Pea & Venison canned cat formula contains 3.66% Carbohydrates on an As-Fed Basis.

However, the green pea & duck kibble is 38.10% carbs, as fed.

You might also want to try mixing it with water. Cats get most (if not all) of their water from food, so oftentimes, they'll eat when in fact they're really thirsty. Extra water also helps keep them well-hydrated, flushes out their kidneys, and makes them feel fuller.
 
I requested clarification from Natural Balance on the % of calories supplied by carbohydrates. Here is the answer from Heather Acuff, B.S.:

Nutrient distribution (kcals from) is:
Green pea & duck canned formula, kcals from carbohydrates = 12.19%
Green pea & venison canned formula, kcals from carbohydrates = 13.07%

This is quite distressing to me. After their initial answer, I thought it was safe for my in remission cat and have been feeding it to her for 2 months! Hopefully no harm has been done.

I hate how completely irresponsible and negligent pet food companies are towards our pets' welfare! How can you contact the same company and get two such completely different sets of information??? If that was where I work, someone would be getting fired for giving out such erroneous information!

Isn't there some way we could get PETA involved to force these pet food companies to stop soft-killing our pets? And every state in the US has animal cruelty laws on the books! We have the spreadsheets and data to back up what bad food does to our kitties! That's evidence that would be upheld in a court of law!
