DoDo's PMPS and AMPS

So---

Last night, the PMPS was at 414 (highest I had seen myself-- he had just eaten within 5-10min). I gave him a 1.5 (skinny) units of Prozinc and he had the following little mini curve

+1 = 410
+3 = 375
+8 = 371

AMPS = 339

This morning-- I gave him 1u and I wont be able to test until I come home from work in preps for the PMPS

My vet had only prescribed giving him 1u 2x a day-- but it doesn't really seem like anything is happening at these numbers. Could it be he is so new? We just started a full day of insulin on Wednesday.

This weekend, I am actually planning on trying to up the numbers since I can be here to monitor him and do a real curve.

I don't know if it is because I am having to feed him Hill's A/D right now (it didnt look to be the most low carb), but right now that is what he is willing to eat. I am still syringe feeding the last few bites since his appetite is picking up but not at a full speed. He is also on clavamox 2x a day.

yes, A/D is not low carb, so that could be contributing. The fact that he is not eating can also be contributing (the reason behind it, not so much that he's not eating)

Do what you have to do to get the kitty to eat and feel better, the bgs will take care of themselves. Remember to treat the cat and not the disease and you'll do just fine!

Thank you for talking me off of the ledge.

I can definitely-- see... how DoDo when his Bgs are high how crummy he feels.

He is meowing for his breakfast and dinner now-- but his appetite is not the same as it was, but now I get it why. We are going back to the vet again today to make sure he has enough fluids, make sure everything else is looking good. I think I am going to ask for another blood test.

I think the constipation is thankfully passing-- he made two big poops although one was a little mushy and runny.

This weekend, I am ecstatic to be with him all day Saturday to do a curve and see how he manages and I am thankful everyday his appetite seems to grow and we are not doing as much syringe feedings.
