I'm writing to warn others not to buy Azodyl from Direct Super Center, which is new on Amazon and has a slightly lower price than Medi-vet (next lowest, and a respectable pet med retailer). Ragnar's health may be seriously impacted by his going too long without his Azodyl due to their failure to ship it, not only urgently as they promised by phone, but even within Amazon's guidelines.
Ragnar has had a UTI infection for a while, we've tried two antibiotics so far, and his renal values are up. (They had gone down to normal on 3 Azodyl a day.) I increased his dose because of the infection, was overwhelmed with day to day activities (fighting our extraorinarily bad winter), and found I had only a few left. I called Medi-Vet early last Thursday, and they said they wouldn't ship 2-day Priority on a Thursday because it could get warm. I pointed out that it would arrive Saturday, and that our Post Office delivers on Saturdays and always refrigerates anything marked "refrigerate on arrival" if they can't deliver it immediately. They wouldn't budge; it wouldn't go out until Monday.
So I called Direct Super Center - slightly cheaper anyway. They said they would ship it by 2-day Priority "as soon as possible." In fact, they didn't ship it until today - 5 days later, and later than the latest day in Amazon's guidlines, and they didn't use 2-day Priority but another service that may not be able to reach me over the snow-covered roads.. We have two capsules left, and then my beautiful one won't have any Azodyl at all, just when he needs it most.
I looked further into "Direct Super Center," and it is not primariliy a pet meds store. It is a sleazy outfit that sells primarily "sex enhancers" and "sex toys." Obviously they don't take pet meds seriously, and we should never buy pet meds from a store like this.
I'm sure anyone who is using this board cares enough about their cat to buy from a pet specialist like Medi-Vet (despite their intransigence), even if it cost a few dollars more. Just a word to the wise, so no one else wil find out the hard way as I did.
(Why don't I buy another bottle at the vet's? I dont care that it's $60, but I am snowed in! However, a package mailed on Thursday would have reached me before the last storm, and one mailed on Monday would have gotten here just about when I expect to snowplow to arrive.)
Blessings,
Shirley and Mr. Beautiful (still OTJ since July but edging upward - I already have a new pen of Lantus in the fridge).
