HI LL family ~O) ~O) ~O)
I know its been a long long long time @-) since we made a condo update :? things have been super crazy here @-) lately but I want to start with Mr. Do Man
My Do Lou has been doing pretty good :-D for the most part as of now he is on f4u lantus and eating young again carb free dry and canned wellness/merricks. He was down to only 1u for a long time in late winter early spring and then he slowly started back up again. Had his senior check in summer all BW and heart xrays and BP were good for him. He is 11 years old now. It will be 5 years for his FD dx on 11/2. Hard to believe that sometimes. His allergies are still giving him issues been on zyrtec this year but it seems to have quit working for him he has been chewing on his left front leg something terrible I have him in a soft ecollar again to try to keep him from chewing on it as much.. Vet and I may try benadryl next. He has been such a comfort to me with the loss of my Mom 3 weeks ago and my Father been so seriously ill with pneumonia. He he still really struggling I think he has given up in many ways since Mom passed. Its been really rough. He got a feeding tube put in yesterday and I have to take his living will up to hospital today so that have that on file.....

On another cat topic I have another diabetic named Alice also a 11 year old abyssinian. She was dx in June of this year we tried food change first but it did not really help so she has been on lantus since 8/13. Still really struggling with her BGs but big part of that is not testing as much as I should been trying to test her more as time and family allows she is still drinking and peeing way too much and 2 u drops her low and 1.75 appears to not be enough we are on f2u for her last 2 days and no I do not have SS's for either cat now but I do log numbers in a notebook for each.

On the show breeding circuit we have a lovely red boy named Copper we hope to keep showing this fall if things work out and I have 2 litters right now one is 4 weeks old and another is 1 week old one of my Moms had to have a c section a week ago so that was more stress for us. But all is well ( anit jinx) on the pet front right now hope it stays that way my stress meter is in overload right now  :YMSIGH: :YMSIGH:

Miss you guys a lot and I do lurk on a regular basis LOL  hugs to everyone :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

It's not that long of an update but way too long to hear from you (other than on FB). I'm glad Do Lou is doing well. The downside of benedryl is that it tastes awful. You may want to put it in a gelcap if you're going to go that route otherwise, you may have a cat that foams at the mouth due to the really bitter taste. If Do Lou will tolerate fish oil, that may help. I think Marje and Ella use Allerplex and have found that very effective.

I was so sorry to hear about your mom. It is always difficult for a surviving spouse. I know how difficult it was for my mom when my dad passed. I hope your dad rallies and fully recovers quickly.

Let us know if we can help with Alice. (And how about some photos of your show kitty and the litters?)

It has been a long time, and I was thinking of you just recently. I'm glad Do Lou is doing well and hope you find something to help him with his allergies.
Best Of Luck with getting Alice's BGs under control.

Mostly, right now it sounds like you could use some rest and a hug (((Lisa))). I'm sorry to hear about your mom, and I am sending get better soon vines to your dad.

Go Copper :)

It's so nice to hear from a fellow Aby owner! Mine are civvies, but they are such special cats, aren't they? How on earth do you get yours to hold still long enough to t/f/s? My male is a perpetual motion machine and doesn't hold still for anything!

I second Sienne's request for photos. I'm sure the babies are absolutely adorable (LOVE your profile picture!)!

My deepest condolences on the loss of your DM. You have really been through a lot lately. Sending healing vines and prayers for your DF. I hope he finds the will to fight off the pneumonia and is able to come home again. I'm sure he's in a lot of emotional pain right now. As are you. Many hugs. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Please don't be a stranger - long or short post, we'd love to hear from you, and we want to "meet" Alice!

ETA: I just watched your videos. I can't believe Do Lou is blind. My Cinco is blind, but he just lost his vision in the past year. Was Do Lou blind at birth?

Hi Lisa :-D ~O) ~O) ~O)

it is so great to hear from you! I am sorry about your mom, I know how hard that is. I hope your dad will begin to do better, Vines for him.

How cool that Do Lou is doing well. Good luck with the allergies. I have no answers, as I've never had to deal with that. Hope the new one works ok, helps him out. wow, it has been 5 years? How time flies.
I wish you much luck too with your new FD kitty. I hope Alice will do well on Lantus. And that you find that magic dose. ;-)

Take care! Hugs back at ya!

Hi ((((Lisa)))),
I'm really glad that you posted a condo today. We are sad to hear of your mom's passing and your dad's illness. I hope he will rally. I know that your many wonderful memories of your mom will comfort you in your grief.
Good luck with getting Alice regulated. And it sounds like Do Lou is doing OK. Scritches to them both (and to all your kitties).

Marje has used it with success. Rusty has tired of it, but took it for over a year and I think it helped him (he has chronic congestion). I'm planning to reintroduce it this winter.

Have a good weekend. Sending many healing vines to your dad,

Hugs,

Ella & Rusty

I was thinking of you recently too. I'm so sorry to hear about your DM and that your father is ill. It all seems to happen at once.

Is Alice originally one of yours? Or did you take her in? How generous of you to do so. I hope you get her under control soon! :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:
