Hi! I called and got answers -

1.) If you have a Confirm or Micro meter - call 1-855-776-0662 for a full refund of your METER price, to be given back to you in the form of a Walmart gift card via phone, sent by mail. DATE DOESN'T MATTER. Just need to give the serial number on the back of your Confirm or Micro meter.

---strips are still available and should be online and in stores for the next 9 weeks at LEAST, for the current Confirm and Micro models. Then they stock based on warehouse.

2.) The new meter, "Relion Premier Compact" - works the same as Confirm/Micro, using .5 blood - but less bells and whistles, less noises, easier to work. = $19.45 (USA including below)

--should be in all Walmart stores right now:

1.) Relion Premier Compact meter, with CR2032 battery
2.) 50 test strips
3.) 10 of 28 gauge lancets (device)- accepts ANY Relion gauge, will stay that way.
4.) doesn't keep time, only stores 10 test readings at a time
5.) comes with zippered bag

---needs to call for control solution, 1-855-776-0662

a.) test strips = $9 for 50.
b.) test strips = $17.88 for 100.

c.) 26 gauge lancets = $1.48, for 100 online and in store = $3.68 for 4 pack (100) in store/online.

--ANY Relion lancets are able to fit/work with the new Compact.

-------Walmart phone employees have been trained for a few months, the new Compact has been out for about a month now nationwide

@Candy&Company
Hi Candy,
Thanks for the info. Do you need to return the meters? I have 4 of them. Will they refund you for multiples, you think?

BTW, I noticed you are in NE Ohio..me too! May I ask whereabouts you are? If you are not comfortable answering me on the open forum, just message me. Maybe we are neighbors:)

Michele

Thanks for the info,@Candy&Company ! I was caught unawares this changeover was happening until I hit up Walmart tonight and discovered no sign of Micro products on the shelf. I went ahead and bought the Compact but wasn't aware the company would reimburse for cost of the Micro. Good to know.

You're welcome! No, you don't need to return the meters, just provide the serial numbers for them. From what I got on the phone, they'll refund ALL meters but this is one of the questions I'd wanted to ask a manager about, still waiting for their email. If I get nothing before Friday I'll be calling them again.

Also I read on another thread, strips for the Confirm/Micro are still easily had online through Walmart.Com but once the warehouse stock is gone to keep buying them you'd need to order through the ADW website instead - link from @Chris&China - http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/...firm-micro-and-availability-of-strips.205376/

I'll send you a message about location, we might just be! :D

You're welcome! Another question I'm waiting on from them is how long the refund offer will last. So far they've said it's open-ended since soooo many people use the Confirm/Micro and they want to ensure that as word spreads, no one will miss out. Fingers crossed I can get that confirmed or if not, they'll tell me the end date when/if they set one.

I haven't gotten the new Compact yet, as the last time I was at Walmart was only a few days before all the news broke but I don't remember seeing it on the shelves so hopefully the next time I make the trip I can pick it up.

According to what they told me on the phone, it's sensitivity/reliability is exactly the same as the Confirm/Micro so the test results between them shouldn't really be a problem but until we can all start doing test comparisons it's hard to trust that for sure. Fingers crossed!

The biggest problem is the new one takes a larger sample size....not a big problem if your cat is a good "bleeder", but new cats (and some old ones) don't bleed very well and it can make a big difference in the success rate of testing

Yeah that's what I'm worried about too. :(

thx,called and got a refund 15.00

@Tucker's Mama CS - Many people are reporting that they stock them in the pharmacy, so you have to go ask for them at the pharmacy counter. We had to ask several times, but managed to get a few boxes recently.
my pharmacy ran out, i still have a full box, when it runs out i guess ill go back to the prime meter since they still sell them strips, youd think they still sell confirm strips at least

We ordered the Akray glucocard 01 sensor plus strips from ADW and they work fine in the micro/confirm. They are cheaper than the Relion strips, even with shipping. They took about two weeks to get here, but we had two holidays somewhere in there. You'll have to wait on them, but if you want to keep your meter, the strips work.

That is GREAT to know! Thank you so much!!

Right, the Wal-Mart strips were made by Arkray, I've been using those strips from ADW on and off for over 3 years without issue. During a normal time without holidays, it usually arrives here in NC from Florida in about 3 maybe 4 days.

Are the Arkray strips (or any strips) sensitive to cold weather? I need to order some from ADW and the forecast here has us in the 20s (Fahrenheit) at nights and in the 30s and 40s during the day for the next 10 days. I estimate shipping from Florida should take about 4-5 business days.

The boxes themselves say "Store between 34-86F". What I don't know is how sensitive they really are, but I can't imagine they are as sensitive as insulin which simply cannot freeze under any circumstances. I'd almost think they'd survive the trip ok if you don't let them sit in your box/porch for a long time, but that is purely a guess.

Warm them up slowly. I got some strips during our first cold snap here and I wasn't home until evening - they were only "indoors" for maybe an hour when I needed to test and it was a mess. The first 2 didn't register, despite enough blood "eyeballing" it - the other two read low, but when I switched to my usual strip container (I only had 14 left) it was higher by 15+?

I just got my 2nd order of strips this past week, and I let them sit in my house to "warm up" slowly over about 2-3 days and they worked good.

So if they're outside for awhile (hours) don't try to use them quickly? Let them come up to room temp just in case you had issues like me. Or if you DO have issues, give them a bit?

Our cold-snap "feels like" temp was below 15 degrees - every snap since (3 of them) has been 9-17 degrees.
