I've been only testing first thing in the morning so there is no food involved for 7 or more hours. So far she is staying in the one hundred teens, it slipped to 111 yesterday. The vet sent a urine sample to be tested and no glucose and no UTI. She said I could probably give her a little dry food now, but I'm too nervous about all of this coming back, so I'm treating it as diabetes being controlled by diet, with my fingers crossed. I suspect her numbers may sink a little lower as she looses some weight.

I really want to thank everyone for helping me get through the first two weeks of this nightmare. I actually lost 8 pounds myself from lack of sleep and not being able to eat from worry. I don't know how you all manage the stress for years on end.

Looking good!!! You're smart to stick with the low carb canned food for life. Once a diabetic always a diabetic.

Fantastic to hear about great numbers! You are absolutely right - lots of people come here a second time because their diabetic got into some dry and the numbers were back up.

Yeah, that's what I figured, better safe than sorry.

Going through all of this has sure made me much more aware of the way I've been eating. I'm due for a check up soon and will be making sure I get a glucose test myself. I never took it seriously before, but I sure am now.
