Hey Everyone !

I'm not sure if this is where I should be posting this but I sure hope so. Just a gen z trying to figure out an older system hehe.
This post is essentially for my other fur kitty, Luna. A little bit about Luna: she is non-diabetic but she sure is a bigggg chonker and loved her dry food as well. She will be 4 in April and absolutely loves every one, but mostly her sugar brother Ace, they truly are each others ying and yang <3 Luna lovessss to be center of attention and is a begger for almost everything I eat and has always been this way since she was a 7 weeks old lol. She has also been a stinky girl when it comes to the litter and I have been concerned about this for awhile, she was only spayed at a year old and was a regular sized kitty until that point. They told us her surgery went well, but I was an anxious mess because she was still out cold 5 hours after bringing her home!!
Weeks after her surgery she started gaining weight quite quickly, like blew up !! I have brought her to our vet regularly and they say she has no known health issues, she's just one of those gals... If that is the case, then that is totally ok with me so long as she is healthy. I'm just curious if it sounds like something else is going on..
She was eating the urinary s/o since Ace was on that before his diagnoses. When Ace was diagnosed and was switched to the Royal Canin Dry D/m, I transitioned Luna to that as well. She had an allergic reaction to the RC dry food so I had treated that reaction and got her back to the urinary s/o. since joining this group and realizing Ace needed to get off the dry food, both Luna and Ace have been eating Fancy Feast pates.
My first thing is, I dont want to be starving her, but I also don't want her gaining more weight... I give her a can in the AM, 1/2 at lunch depending on how hungry she seems to be and 1 can for PM. I give her another 1/2 can throughout the night when I get up to test Ace.
She doesn't always finish what I give her if its not her FAV flavour... so i'm wondering if I should give her some treats to make up for those calories if shes missing any from what shes not eating in the canned food?
And my second is, does it sound like there is an underlying condition going on?

I have tested her at home before and her numbers were always within normal range:)

Im sorry, I dont know her current weight.

The vet who we routinely refer to regarding feline nutrition has a wonderful section on feline obesity on her website. I suspect getting a baby scale will help since you want Luna's weight loss to be gradual. Getting her on a species appropriate diet (canned food vs dry) should be a major step in the right direction.
