Did I mess up?

Sam's numbers at night have been lower than his day numbers, so I reduced his shot a bit last night. This morning he was 206 at AMPS so I again gave him a slightly lower dose. Now he's at 255. Usually this is when he's moving lower in the cycle. Did he eat a candy bar?!?! I'm going back to work tomorrow and I don't know what to do with his dosage. Should I have kept him at 1.0? It seems like he's all over the place the past two days and I'm afraid I made it worse by reducing his dose a bit. Help? I won't be able to monitor him the rest of the week and don't know the best course of action from here.

Remember that meters have a variance of 20% and that food raises levels. So he is a little flat at the start. That's okay. One number is just one number. Let's see how he looks tonight.

You are doing fine and so is he!

Sue's right - you're doing great! Keep in mind that on some days, kitties may hold onto the effects of their food longer than on others (for example, my cat burns it off faster if she's active compared to if she's just been napping for the first few hours after a meal) So don't worry yourself today about that single 255 @ +3 in Sam's SS, ok? :bighug: (This is a process, so it takes some time...)

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm not as concerned with the 255 as I am about his dose going forward. Should I keep him at 1u, or go with the .75u? In the past few days, we've talked about increasing his dose because he wasn't hitting green, but then he hit green and bounced so someone suggested possibly lowering his dose. And now I'm just not sure what to do. I won't be able to monitor during the day going forward.
