Hi everyone!

Just a quick question: I've noticed that Corduroy has had diarrhea for the last two days. Yesterday, Joe puked twice in a row (quite a lot each time) and tried to poop in the corner; however, this may be just bad luck and coincidence on my part;)

At any rate, I started putting Neosporin with pain relief on Corduroy's little ears about two days ago to help them heal faster. This is the only thing that's changed. I'm still feeding them Evo 95% Chicken and Turkey.

Has anyone's cat ever experienced sickness/diarrhea upon giving them Neosporin? Or, has anyone heard anything about a possible bad batch of Evo?

I've not heard anyone mention diarrhea resulting from Neosporin. However, a cat (or human for that matter) could be allergic to just about anything. I'd stop the Neosporin and see if the diarrhea goes away. It may not be a conclusive test since this could be a GI upset that goes away after a couple of days.

You could give corduroy a probiotic such as Renew Ultimate Flora Critical care. You can get it at GNC or Whole Foods. Usually 1/3 tsp mixed in food.

yes, it can give them diarrhea if they get a lot of it. it happened to punkin a couple of times before i realized the connection. if corduroy is washing his ears he might be licking it off - any AB can give diarrhea.

use less or put it on, monitor so he doesn't wash it off, and then wipe off most of it. in lesser quantities it didn't bother punkin and it is pretty great for getting rid of the sting.

Okay, thanks ladies! I quit giving it to him already, but of course his diarrhea is still there:( I will wait a little bit longer to see if it goes away, and then maybe try it again, but wipe the excess off. Have a great Sunday!

How long have you been feeding EVO? It is a fairly high fat food and that can upset some cat's digestion. If something else was bothering them it might just have tipped the balance.

You can also add a little canned plain pumpkin. It adds fiber, which is a pre-biotic to help the pro-biotic and also firms up the stool as well as drawing water into it to allow easier passage.
