Diarreha and Bloody stools

Simba is sick, but in what I don't know.

He has loose stools most of the times, and of late has also gotten a lot of blood in the stools. Today there was really a lot.

I will call the hospital tomorrow, but anyone have any ideas what can cause this?

Can be cause by something as simple as stress...sometimes its more serious. Do you have any pro-pectalin on hand? You can give 1cc 3x a day. I think some here also use Forti Flora to reduce diahrea

No, unfortunately I've never heard of pro-pectalin.


I think we will start with a full faeces analysis.

1/4 teaspoon of plain, insoluble fiber may help until you get it worked out with the vet.

Look at the ingredient list for the food and review for possible allergens/irritants like milk, beef, corn, wheat, rice, & gluten.

If you are feeding a variety of foods, it may help to make a chart of foods and date, and when the problem shows up. Sometimes there is a lag between eating something and symptoms.

I've called and they said worms and parasites rarely causes blood, that that indicates it is something with his intestines. But I will start with a worm and parasite analysis of the faeces anyway, so we have that ruled out and then he will be seeing the vets at the hospital.
