Diane's levels were nice this morning before her AM shot. She ate one can of fancy feast salmon pate. Gave her the shot around 6 am of 1 unit.

I was expecting her numbers to be lower when testing but they're at 343! Is this normal to go up that much after insulin?

I am wondering if maybe it was a fur shot this morning. I didn't feel anything wet but could smell the lantus. But I also have a diabetic friend who says even when he gives himself a shot, he can still smell the lantus smell on that spot a bit...so I'm not sure if this is just normal.

Sometimes I can smell the insulin, but I’ve had an active cycle, so, like your friend, I think the insulin got where it’s supposed to go.
My cat often goes higher for 3-4 hours after the shot and eating, so it could just be normal. I can really tell I’ve had a fur shot if his usual low point or nadir is high. On Jackson, that’s at +9 or even pmps.
