Good morning, all:
My old boy, Cloud, recently lost a lot of weight and in the last few months was eating like he is starved and drinking huge amounts of water. I found out he has diabetes and his eating is a little better but constantly cries for water from the bathtub. I have three water bowls and a fountain for him to drink from but he only wants the bath tub running water. Does anyone else have this issue?

Can you tell us a bit more about your cat? What food are you feeding? What insulin is he on and what dose? Unregulated diabetic cats need more food because they can’t process the nutrients in food well so they’ll eat and still be hungry and lose weight. What’s his weight right now?

Bobo decided he’ll only drink water from a cup on my bathroom counter. He won’t touch any of the other water bowls I have all over the house or the fountain. I think it’s a behavior thing and not really related to the diabetes. Have you tried putting a bowl of water inside the bathtub?

I had a cat that would only drink from the bathroom sink tap. Middle of the night meow requests sent from the bathroom counter were not the best of fun.

The issue was accidentally solved by an old-fashioned, mid-sized parfait glass (heavy enough not to knock over) filled to the brim on the bathroom counter. Every time we went into the bathroom of our own accord, we refilled it or topped it up.

I just leave the cup there all day and night now. I make sure to refill it before going to bed lol
