Hello!
First, I want to thank everyone here who helped me with my boy, Alexander, when he was diagnosed with diabetes about a year ago. Your advise on food and testing allowed me to control his diabetes with diet alone (off insulin within a month of changing diet), and his numbers continue to be good (60-70mg) when I check him every 5-7 days.
Today, I need help because of my other cat, Jack. Jack has dermatitis... after months of ointments, bandages, etc, AND a biopsy, I thought we had it under control. One element appears to be stress, because after he had a dental cleaning and echocardiogram (newly detected heart murmur) the dermatitis came back in full force. He's back in full time bandages, creams, etc.
Because of my boys' different issues, I wanted to see if I could find a hypoallergenic food that is also good for diabetic cats. Currently, they are eating Fancy Feast Classic Turkey and Giblets. I honestly don't know if a food change will help, since stress seems to be a factor. And I certainly do NOT want to threaten Alexander's health in the process. However, I wanted to see what is out there. I did an online search, but everything was for either diabetic OR hypoallergenic food.... not a combo.
Any recommendations would be VERY much appreciated!
Thank you all!
