CAN ANYONE HELP? There's a 12 yo declawed female diabetic cat that needs a new home. I ran across her on petfinder TOTALLY by accident....here's what I know about her right now (from rescue trying to help her) (LINK TO PIC HERE):
I contacted the owner hoping she'd figured out how to keep her but no...received this info this morning:
I've returned an email asking about insulin, food, all those general questions....
CAN ANYONE TAKE HER?? We just CANNOT let a 12yo family cat be PTS just because she has diabetes....there are no transport dollars...
We recently received the e-mail below. The cat's owner has tried all avenues but since her mother is so allergic she needs to find a solution asap and is running out of options. Lacey is a sweet, happy cat who is around 12 years old and is spayed, declawed and current on her shots. If you are interested in adopting this special needs cat, please let us know asap at animaladvocatesofnorthtexas@ymail.com
I have a cat around 12 years old that is diabetic and requires 2 shots a day. My mother who has had a stroke has moved in with us and is highly allergic to cats. I am too but I have sacrificed my allergies to take care of her since she was a kitten. But my mother's doctors say I must get rid of the cat for my mom's sake.
I am more than willing to provide a full dose of insulin, syringes, cat food and cat litter along with a donation to provide a good home for her. Can you help???

Thanks for asking but there are absolutely no options in keeping her here. Not only is she affecting my mother's health and my health but now my husband is working overtime during the holidays and no one is here to give her shot on time. This is not good either. The vet said she could miss one occasionally but I am worried about the future. I definitely need to find her a home or the vet will have her put down. I would truly love to find her a home first. The vet said she has lived a good life with us but I don't think it is over yet. I just can't be the home for her anymore. If you can help, I would be very grateful.
We have moved her into my office area which is upstairs to keep her away from my mom. Unfortunately I am allergic to her too but is has been controllable in the past. But now that she is solely in my office, I cannot work in there without having major asthma and allergy issues. I drug myself but that can not continue either. One day I will be as bad as my mom. Her asthma goes wild when she is near a cat.
