hi everyone,
First I want to say THANK YOU for having this web page and forums. Thank you to all those who answered my many and probably silly questions! We are new to diabetes and are in our second week of BGT and treatment with caninsulin. Tribby my kitty is 15 yrs old- ish. She's a rescue.
We discovered that she had diabetes during blood work testing to see what was causing her chronic diarhhea on and off since early last December. She has taken Flagyl, an antibiotic and pancur, a deworming medication twice with a short lasting improvement.
I have tried different foods and OTC medications as well as probiotics. No luck so far. Early on she had irritable bowel symptoms including gas and a noisy tummy. She would also leave small messes where she was laying and would sit hunched leading me to think that she was painful.
Her pancreatic values were normal and her BGL was in the 20's when we started treating her for diabetes. My vet is not sure if the diabetes caused the diarhhea or the other way around. Her BGL is between 6-9 now the IBS symptoms have improved.
After all this medication and treatment she STILL has intermittent diarhhea!
Has anyone else's cat had diarhhea along with diabetes?
Any suggestion on how to treat and / or prevent?
