Can you suggest the best diet for my girl who was just diagnosed with diabetes? Her kidney function is good now, but I worry the high protein will be hard on her.
Cats are obligate carnivores, so as long as no other problems exist, the higher protein, (lower carb) diet Iis likely to be just fine.
See www.CatInfo.org for why.
Canned food is lower carbs than dry food. Pate flavors are lower than anything that has gravy in it. Many of us feed our cats Friskies or Fancy Feast canned foods.
Hello Carolyn Or is it Donna? Which one of you is the sugarbaby?
We'd love to have you join us in the main forum. We will have lots of tips for you and your kitty. We do home testing with human monitors, and it makes life with a diabetic cat sooo much easier. I have fed both Friskies and Fancy Feast...they're both good foods.
