Question:
I'm trying to balance a dexamethasone dose with an insulin dose. One of the thoughts his vet had was to up the dose when he had the dex.

He does dex once a day and it raises the bg.

The dex dose may not be split am/pm.

So, if the insulin is in balance with the dex he's it seems too much during the other dose. If the dose is in synch with the no dex time, he goes high at next test.

Possible example:
am dose = x
pm dose = x +.25

Anyone have experience working with an dex and insulin?

You may have already posted and I just missed it but why is he on dexamethasone? Is this a short term or long term rx?

I've actually never heard of dex. I looked it up and see it's a powerful steroid. That would definitely affect the BG.

We generally recommend shooting the same dose am and pm. One of the problems with shooting different doses is that the depot has to keep adjusting, and it can result in really wonky numbers.

Here is your thread from yesterday. We ask that you link the previous day's condo so that people can easily go back and see what's already been discussed.

Have you been shooting different doses at AM and PM? Because, in the numbers you gave yesterday, I don't see a significant difference between morning and evening.
