Well, the dental cleaning and two extractions of maxillary premolars is completed. I will be picking up my boy in another 45 minutes, YEAH. It did not go without a hitch. This AM I was allowed to feed him 1/2 the amount of food he would normally eat at 5:30 AM and to dose him 1/2 his normal dose. He was 384 AMPS. He didn't have to arrive at the vets until 10AM as he was a 1:30 pm appointment. Before I headed out the door, I decided to get a reading on him and he had dropped to 209 at +3.5. Yikes, so I took him and talked to the vet before they took him back. The choices were to reschedule in 2 weeks, first available appointment or,give him a glucose drip. I went with the drip and they got him up into the 500's! He's never been that high that I know of. So, as soon as I can get some food into him, I want to dose him because I just know he can't feel good going from 209 to the 500's. Should I give him his normal dose? Any input would be good.

If he eats normally I would give him normal dose if PS BG is equal to or greater than "normal". Not infrequently a cats will not eat normally the evening after a dental. I was even instructed to feed about 1/2 normal the evening after.
Dulce has a dental with extraction in July and Badger, with extractions and removal of ear polyp, and civi Snowball has one in August. One did not even fins the reduced amount.

Oh, he ate! And he wants all that he normally gets. He was like an anteater sucking down his food. I only gave him 1/2 his normal amount. I waited 20 mins and gave him another tbsp. And the rest of the evening I will slowly dole it out to insure he doesn't vomit; he is stalking me. Every time I turn around, there he is.......whining for more food. Poor guy, he was still so affected by the anesthesia when we first got home and he went ripping down the hallway, sideways, at full speed. He jumped up to the cat buffet table I feed him on and missed and fell, twice, even though I intended to feed him down on the floor for just that reason. I did shoot his full dose after he ate and I waited 15 mins to make sure it stayed down. Thanks, Larry.

Aww, poor Bubba! Well, I guess he's well on his way to recovery! I have a wonderful mental picture of him stalking you for food, lol. Glad he's doing so well! :):):)

Glad Bubba is doing better and his dental problems solved! That was a tough day for him and you. Whew! He will feel better now and maybe even his BG's will be lower (no more bad teeth)! Good luck!

How is Bubba doing today? Hope he's recovered! :)
Ah Thanks Lucy! He's doing great. As of yet, no ill reactions to anesthesia or the clavamox they have him on. He went outside this morning for 1 1/2 hrs. and was happy about that. He's in his man-cave and I just got a +6 on him, in the blues! Yesterday, he drank and peed like crazy, I 'm imagining it is from the glucose drip. Much better today. Thanks for asking.

So happy to hear how well he's doing. Nothing like an outdoor constitutional and time in the man-cave for restorative powers, lol! :):)

Did Bubba get any pain meds during his dental or afterwards? That's great he's doing so well!

He was given an injection of buprenorphine. He enjoyed a day yesterday with AM and PM in under 250 range and a rather flat cycle in the PM and then this morning BAM up to 470 YIkes! How is CJ? Did she poop?

CJ had that on her last dental and did well. Not sure why it wasn't given this time. Her stools seem better today and she seem happier than she has in several days.
That must be hard with Bubba's bounces. Hope he get more yellows again soon (and blues and greens)!
